The long anticipated opening was nothing short of a huge disappointment. Shame on them for not adding a dedicated gluten free fryer. If we ever stop again, it will be Augusta where they care enough to cater to food allergies. Any new establishment not considering this is alienating full families. Will not be at this location again, ever.
Can I choose zero stars? Our waiter had no idea what gluten free meant or how to answer my questions about the menu, but he didn’t admit it. He left to find out if if a sauce on one of the dishes had gluten in it and he came back and told me the meat was stewed in the sauce. When I asked if it was gluten free he stumbled and I de used to order a salad instead. When he delivered my meal he handed me the salad and said “here is your gluten free salad” which had 2 folded up flour tortillas on the edge of the plate. I am gluten intolerant so I didn’t bother saying anything. But my daughter who has celiac was brought flour chips instead of corn chips with the table salsa. She asked if they were corn chips to which he said no, and he returned with a plate of identical looking chips. Overall just a mess and would not trust any cross- contamination prevention practices being used in the kitchen. There were also a number of menu items that could not swap the tortillas to make the item GF. Will never go back again.
It seemed there was a very poor understanding of GF. My wife ordered her salad gluten free after sharing her allergy, and as the waiter is handling saying here is your gf salad, there were two pieces of bread sticking out. We also learned a lesson in chips and salsa not being necessarily GF. We received the GF kind after realizing they were flour chips.
