Absolutely so good! Most items on menu can be made gluten free and they have a dedicated fryer! Had calamari, scotch egg, the best wedge salad and crème brûlée. Fun atmosphere too!

They can make many of their menu items gluten-free. They have a dedicated deep fryer and have gluten-free breading for making dishes such as deep-fried breaded fish.
I was SO excited to try this place. I’ve read and heard many great things. As someone with Celiac I am always hesitant to eat out, but Marks Eastside appeared to check all the boxes. Dedicated fryer (YAY) dedicated kitchen space (YES!) knowledgeable staff too! I had the onion rings, fried pickles, a wedge salad, and fried perch with baked potato. Yes, I realize that’s a lot but our table did a lot of sharing and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try the fried food! Service was good, drinks weren’t great, but I did see a whole lot of ice cream drinks being made which people seemed to enjoy. I had a Moscow mule. Not sure what went wrong there but it was not good. A friend had a crown mixer and it tasted off to them. Maybe they need to clean their lines? Not entirely sure. Either way it wasn’t a big deal. We aren’t big drinkers so we told the bartender the drinks were delicious and moved on. I am really sad about this one guys. I was ill within two hours of my meal. No idea what went wrong here but something very clearly did. They even gave us a little card for being first timers to come back and enjoy $10 off. Definitely will not be back :(

DELICIOUS! Battered haddock and fries! Onion straws! All great and yummy. It was an hour wait on a Friday night, but it was well worth the wait. Highly recommend it! Non Gf people loved the steak.

Absolutely amazing. The kitchen manager has celiac and 90% of the menu can be made gluten free. Dedicated deep fryer. I had breaded calamari, French onion soup and a fish entree. It was delicious. They have a big dessert menu but I was so full. Would highly recommend. Will be going back every time I’m in Appleton!

My wife and I went to Marks Eastside on a Friday night because we heard they offered gluten-free fish fries. The waitress said we could get pretty much anything on the menu. They have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free. We were able to have onion rings for the first time in a long time and they were delicious. My wife had jumbo deep-fried shrimp that were awesome and I had the deep-fried perch also awesome. Our waitress was also gluten-free so understood our needs and concerns. We don’t live nearby but whenever we can, we will be back to eat it at Mark’s East Side

Fun supper club with lots of GF options. They have a separate fryer and prep space for gluten free food, so it’s pretty safe of cross contamination. Most of the menu is available GF as well, which was great!

Many GF options. Food arrive with a “stick” marking it as GF indicating they were trying to be careful back in the kitchen.

Dedicated fryer (onion rings, fries, pickle spears, Banana Schnitzel!) Gluten free menu is very clear of what is safe for celiacs and what is not. Service and food was very good! It’s a busy place so you might have to wait, but even with the crowd we were confident in our food as it came out labeled.

Can’t say enough good things about Mark’s East Side. The servers are very knowledgeable about gluten allergies and food comes out labeled as such, so you can be confident it’s safe. The fried pickles are amazing!! One of our favorite places to come

I have a friend who works here and has been insisting how I need to come in and try their gluten free food. I am very happy I finally did! They have a separate gluten free menu upon asking and a dedicated fryer. My waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten-free. I got the Icelandic deep fried haddock with French fries and an appetizer of deep fried mushrooms. Oh my gosh they were soooo delicious. I did not feel sick in the slightest afterwards. I am really looking forward to going back.

The staff was extremely knowledgeable of celiac disease and proactively offered information about their kitchen and prep process that made my son feel comfortable about eating there. Great tasting food with a dedicated fryer.

They reported the food was celiac safe and gluten free, but my body’s reactions afterwards unfortunately discredit that. Up most of the night with GI issues and rash on my hands which hasn’t happened once since I went gluten free 6 months ago.

I was soooo excited that they were extremely knowledgeable about celiacs. They have a dedicated frier, and a separate kitchen area. Very large menu with their own “gluten free breading”. It was an amazing surprise for this weary traveler!!!

Cassandra and her staff and the food are amazing! They have a dedicated fryer and the food was out of this world! My husband, who is not gluten free, tried all the gluten free food I ordered and said he would get it next time because it was so delicious. The haystack of onion rings is a huge heaping pile of onions rings and they were beyond delicious. And then for dinner I had the perch fish fry and it was so good and light and fluffy that I double checked to make sure it was in fact gluten free. It was! The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure everything was gluten free and and that we had a great experience. We will definitely be going back and I recommend this restaurant to anyone that has gluten issues. Out of this world delicious! And if there is a wait to get a table it is totally worth it!

I've been here before, liked the food and didn't get sick. But I had reservations here last Saturday night, which they lost? I was told that I had to wait an hour and a half. I left hungry and disappointed.

Wonderful place. Yes it is slightly expensive but the food is so good, you don't mind. They have a dedicated fryer and workspace in the kitchen. All the kitchen staff are well trained and the menu specifically says celiac instead of gluten free.
Yes
They have a dedicated gf fryer and their food is amazing. Their gf onion rings are my favorite! :) So many good entrees and desserts for celiacs. Nice place to go for a date night out.
Yes
They have a dedicated fryer! And for our Wisconsinites it's nice that they also do breaded fish for Friday night fish fries. They have deep-fried pickles and although their sides could be done better there proteins are perfection! I highly recommend it!
Yes
I loved the GF perch fry. Service was great even though they were very busy.
We were in the area for vacation...we found this place on our 3rd night, it was so good we went back on our 4th and final night!
We were attracted to it because of the vast Gluten Free menu (two of us have Celiac's), the fact that they have separate fryers and cooking space for gluten free, the wide variety on the menu and of course the yummy desserts!!
They have German food, steak, fish, seafood, pasta...the list goes on...Definitely something for everyone!
Our kids loved the calamari and cheese curds, I loved the GF Onion Rings and Deep Fried Pickles...I very rarely eat anything fried at restaurants because it is usually cooked in the same oil as non-gf items which would make me sick. So it was a treat to have yummy onion rings and deep fried pickles--they were both amazing! And they served New Grist GF Beer...our favorite one!
My hubby tried the Scotch Eggs and he and my 10 year old daughter devoured that! The schnitzels were great, the perch, the haddock, the cuban stuffed pork were some of our faves....but the twice baked potato was the best I've had in a long time!
Desserts....one night we had the Banana Schnitzel and Creme Brulee (both GF!) then next night we had the Banana Schnitzel and the Schaum Torte (sp?) (both GF!) they were so great!!
Everyone was so very friendly and accommodating to our party of 9 one night and 7 the next, as well as to our GF requests! We definitely will be back if we are ever in the area again and highly recommend it to anyone!

Celiac: Absolutely Fantastic!! Dedicated fryer and owner is proud of it which gave even more confidence.
Had the gf breaded onion rings and haddock, and fries. Spectacular!
Yes
GF breading in a dedicated GF/Celiac friendly fryer means you can have fish fry or wiener schnitzel or any other breaded item you miss. This place is awesome!!
I'm a sensitive celiac, ate here with no after effects. Deb our waitress was knowledgeable, but for safety reasons she had the chef-Alex meet with me directly The gf perch was delicious, how exciting to enjoy a fish fry again. Thanks Mark's! I'll definitely be back.
Yes
Such an amazing GF treat. The onion rings were absolutely amazing! My non-GF husband even thought they were excellent and he doesn't like a lot!! They call it celiac friendly. If I'm ever in the area again I would dine here multiple times!! So delicious!!
Finding a GF supper club can be tough in WI. Marks is a top notch restaurant, friendly staff, and amazing food (GF or not). Been awhile since I had GF battered Perch fry and fish was great. Mark even came around and talked to us a couple times. Only downside is the bar is a tad small - so if you want to have drinks, be prepared to stand or battle it out for a seat on a Friday night. Plus side is the Ole Fashions are awesome and kiddie cocktails are free after the first one.
Yum! I enjoyed some gf onion rings. ..took a little extra time since they had to heat up separate fryer but worth it to have them. Also had twice baked potatoes. They were great with our daughters too.
They have detected fryers, gfree breading. I have had the French fries, fish fry and deep fried shrimp. One if my favorite places.
Yes
Very great selection! They can make most of the menu gluten free. They also refer to the gf batter as celiac batter. I enjoy coming here for the deep fried seafood and have never had an issue. Plus the food is amazing!

Staff very knowledgeable in what I am able to order. Food is always very good & at times I am able to have a special of the week for much appreciated variety. No GF menu but many items can be made GF if they know to do so. An easy place to eat.
