Was seeking a special place to take my significant other for their birthday. We settled on Mastro's as it seemed to be celiac-friendly. I made a notation in the reservation that I was celiac. The restaurant did not communicate to the waitress, no gluten-free menu was provided, however our waitress seemed knowledgable. She said instead of doing the house-seasoning on the steaks (which contains flour) they would do salt & pepper. We ordered the chopped salad, a 20-oz New York strip and a baked potato. At the end of our meal she brought out a flourless chocolate cake on the house. That evening I was sick as if I had been glutened. Although the waitress assured us she would communicate with the chef, I am guessing there must have been an error in the kitchen. I would not recommend this establishment for celiacs.
— Not very
— No gluten-free information on the menu
— Some
— Good
For $50 i expect gluten free bread and seasoning for a steak instead of just salt and pepper. Also the filet was severely undercooked. Came back well done second time. Waste of money
The staff took great care to make me a safe meal. Creamed items and truffle butter were not safe, but fish, lobster, and many veggies were celiac friendly.
Yes
Delish food but be advised that all of their steaks are dredged in flour. Be sure to be very clear with your server about issues with gluten.
Firstly, if you order the wagyu, expect to have the best steak of your life (at the 90210 location, not so hot in NYC). Plenty of GF and dairy free options.
First, let me say that I never right reviews. My mother has SEVERE food allergies. She is allergic to gluten, soy, nuts, dairy, chicken, turkey, duck, fish, etc. They were amazing. She ate the best steak in town absolutely plain, the biggest baked potato you will ever see, and plain broccoli. It did not disappoint for those of us who aren't GF either. It came out to $100 a head including tip and totally worth it!! Will definitely be back next time I am in town!
Mastro's is one of my favorite restaurants! It is the best steak house that I have ever been to. The food is excellent including the chicken that my wife ordered. If you say you have a food allergy or special diet then the chef comes out to your table to tell you what is safe to eat. Most of the items are GF or can be made GF. This is one of the few restaurants without a GF menu that I feel completely comfortable dining at. The prices are HIGH, but worth the money. For most people, including myself, this is a special occasion restaurant. I forget what our bills have been like, but at least $100 per person even if we only have one drink each. .

Extensive GF menu. Lots of GF sauces and salad dressings, and all steaks and fish can be prepared GF. Best steak in LA!
