I ate here last night and have a wheat allergy. A little cross contamination never really bothers me, I may get a little itchy. I had a terrible allergic reaction after eating here, there is more than a little cross contamination going on and this needs to be looked into.
UPDATED REVIEW: We did eat there many, many times and we were fine but after getting glutened once (very badly) we haven't been back. I kindly brought it to the attention of management and was ignored. We've taken our business to California Pizza Kitchen. Not worth the risk. Bummed by this though. :( ------ Great GF pizza! Personally, I love the thin GF crust -wouldn't trade it for gluten crust even if I could. Very accommodating to our food allergies.
My son is Celiac and got sick there last night. He has eaten there before and not gotten sick, but unfortunately something in the cooking process was done differently this time. Manager said they can't prevent cross contamination totally.
I have two favorite gluten free crusts in town and this is one of them. You will love this option if you're gluten free.
Great gluten free pizza at the shelbyville road loc
I was really wanting to like this place. Nice people trying to accommodate GF needs. And the pizza top was pretty good. But the crust was horrible. Very corn-mealy, doughy, too thin, and if you tried to pick it up it just fell apart. Blech. I know there are better recipes out there. Plus I asked for extra mushrooms and I think I got a total of 7 little slices. I mean, it's the name of the place! Way too expensive for pizza I couldn't choke down. The great GF pizza hunt continues.
Pizza was very good.
The worst pizza imaginable. Thick, doughy and just plain disgusting. In addition to the bad pizza, there is not place to park.
Great food - very knowledgable staff - dedicated and separate oven for gluten free pizza. Delish
My husband has celiac disease and I am gluten intolerant and we both absolutely love Mellow Mushroom's GF pizza!!! We usually go there once a week it is that good. Their staff always ask if it's an allergy or a preference and make sure to notate that it's an allergy and provide us with their blue gf plates. We like our crust really crispy so occasionally we send it back to be cooked more, but it is always delicious! :)
So the GF pizza is okay, but the main problem is that the pizza is now smaller (down to 10"). However, it still costs the same, and combined with horribly long wait times (an hour or more), I can't recommend this. There are cheaper and better options.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. GF pizzas and menu.
Yes, it was gluten free and celiac friendly but pizza did not taste good. Sauce had no favor. The wings were a good option since they were oven cooked.
Pizza was good but I got sick, so cross-contamination may have been the cause.
In terms of safety: super safe. They're known for their allergy protocols. However, my pizza was really tasteless and kind of soggy. My sister said maybe it was just the gluten free crust because everyone else's pizza was delicious but even the tomato sauce I felt like had no flavor. I'll probably return just because other people liked it but i don't think I'd really choose to eat here on my own.
ok, this chain is great but kitchen staff at this location are careless. Had to send my salad back 2 times because there was cheese on it when the waiter clearly wrote gluten and dairy allergy on the ticket. sigh. Waiter was wonderful, friendly and fully apologetic and was working hard and understood. This carelessness may explain the reactions others have had after eating at this location. Which is ashamed because this is a great chain.
My favorite pizza place, I'm trying to convince them to add more options to the gf menu! I would love to have their wings.
My son got sick from the gf pizza, something wasn't right!
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and confident in preventing cross contamination. All pizzas are made in a different area and the price for gf is comparable to the normal pizza. The staff was extremely friendly and the manager came over to talk about the gf pizza as well. Highly recommend!
Hubby and son are Celiac and this appears to be a reasonably safe place to go. Our son gets sick at a speck of gluten and he and hubby are always fine in this restaurant with dedicated ovens and workspace for gluten free food. I love their non gluten free pizzas myself. Great place with knowledgeable staff, good food and always great service.
me and my girls can't have gluten or dairy and they did a great job! kept our pizza completely separate from everything else and when he took it out of the oven he never put it down until he personally brought it to our table! They were so understanding and it was so great to be somewhere were the staff didn't look at you like you were crazy
I really, really want to love this place, but I can't. I've eaten the GF pizza here on four occasions. Three times it has made me sick to some degree. It has to be from cross contamination. If you are gluten sensitive, it might be okay, but it's not for those with celiac.
