Review of Melvyn's Restaurant & Lounge

My wife and I went to the iconic Melvyn's looking to have a great night out. We're foodies so we were excited to eat at such a well known famous spot. I made the reservation and itemized my food allergies and celiac disease. When we got to the hostess stand we waited forever for her to seat us. I could see she was reading through my allergies but she did not pass that info on to our server or the kitchen. We ordered our food. I ordered a steak and baked potato. Just to clarify and cover my bases I said "could you just make sure my meal is gluten free." He then stated potatoes aren't GF! I asked him to clarify he said "potatoes have gluten all over them." My wife said "potatoes are typically gf" he then snapped at her and said "No they are not!" So I had a steak and some seasonal veggies that would have been okay if they were seasoned. I didn't get glutened but all in all this experience was not at all worth its $350.00 price tag. I didn't feel safe eating it at or at all taken care of by this restaurant. It's lost its old school charm and at the same time can't keep up with its current clientele's needs.
