Mercato has a separate GF menu online so despite the previous reviews from a couple of years ago, I thought I’d give it a try. On arrival, the server brought me a GF menu (you have to ask, its not marked on the normal menu). There was a good selection of apps and entrees to choose from!
When the server came over I explained I was celiac and asked if there was anything to avoid cross contamination wise. She was pretty distracted as it was busy, and she said it was all good, however I queried if the tortillas were fried separately or in a shared fryer, and it turns out they were fried with everything else, so I opted for a different app. She said my entree would be prepared in a separate pan etc.. but to be honest she didn’t seem super reassuring.
I don’t get any GI symptoms so its hard to confirm if there was gluten exposure- I would use caution and ask lots of questions about the preparation of your food choices if you’re celiac or very sensitive.
