I had a horrible reaction when I ate here. Idk why other reviews say it’s gluten free and it looked like gluten free injera (super dark burgundy indicating its 100% Teff) but I just don’t know what happened.

The staff at Merkato was incredibly helpful and accommodating to my gluten free needs. The waitress was also gluten sensitive, so she assured me that she would do everything she could to make sure I was safe. The food was fabulous (like wake up in the middle of the night craving it good) and the injera was only slightly different than what I've had before I was diagnosed. (Still stretchy and sourdough flavored.)They have you purchase a package of gluten free injera from the market side ($8?), and then serve all of your food with it. You then have all of the remaining injera to take home and use for tacos etc. (Brilliant!) Overall, the restaurant is not the prettiest place, but boy is the food good!! No reaction and great food to boot! I highly recommend this place.
