The cook has a condition requiring her to be gluten free, and explained which dishes she could make GF. She even warned when there was risk of cross contamination.
The food is delicious, and in good portion sizes for sharing.
The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and fast. The food was delicious, and I felt like I ate at home. I have no reservations about eating here again. Anytime I pass through, I’ll try to order something. They were considerate to our dogs and brought them chicken and rice without us even asking.

Let me start by saying all 3 gluten-intolerant members of my family had gluten-type reactions within hours of eating here. The (new) waitress clearly didn't understand. I told her the 3 family members that are medically gluten free. Fried rice dish served. I ask is it gf? No. Huh?? This happened with 3 dishes. The gf dishes tasted good, but I don't think they were gf. My non-gf dish tasted freezer burned.

My teenage son has celiac and Merry Go Round has become our family's destination restaurant whenever we are headed through Lone Pine. The owner /chef has celiac and makes all her dishes from scratch. Her friendly husband is a waiter and all the staff understand celiac, just let them know you have celiac. On top of this, it's some of the best Chinese food we have ever had!
The chef and ownership is still the same as referred to in previous reviews. I was impressed and you can eat here with confidence. Just let them know what your your intolerances are. The restaurant is quaint and although it looks Chinese only they have an American menu to choose from as well.

Cozy & friendly establishment. Most menu items can be made gluten free by the cook, upon request. There is also a gluten free soy sauce option that is made on site by the wife of this mom and pop shop. I have a severe gluten intolerance and was quite pleased with my meal. I haven't had Chinese food in a long time. I always get worried when ordering at new places. The staff was very knowledgeable and up front about the gluten free options. They also kept us up to date about all the cooking procedures and sauce ingredients. Needless to say I had a great meal shared with friends and excellent conversation with the owners. I left well fed and healthy! p.s. my favorite entree so far is the lemon pepper shrimp with gluten free noodles; garlic lovers paradise.

Had the lunch buffet. The cook, who is gluten free herself, reviewed what was safe and even prepared a gluten free version of what I wanted. She makes her own gluten free soy souse.

5 stars in terms of gluten-free; they really were excellent in that respect, and I would definitely return here were I in the area. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is that 4 stars was the consensus of the 4 of us (three of whom are not coeliacs). But if you are coeliac I recommend this place very much. The first thing the server said was "yes of course we can do gluten-free -- the chef hates gluten." There was no language barrier and they even made a vegetarian meal to my friend's specifications that was not on the menu. A pleasant surprise. This place should definitely be on the gluten-free map.
