Mews Cafe

I was struggling a bit finding ‘safe’ food to eat while visiting my husband’s family, and wa happy to have stumbled upon Mews! The server identified that the Satay small bites was GF and the Nasi Goreng, Nasi Lemak, and Beef Rendang could be GF.

I got the chicken satay + Nasi Goreng with fried chicken and ended up getting another order to go to have food the next day. Bonus were the pickled vegetables with pineapple! The bill also had dishes marked “ Gluten Free”, so they are aware enough to have it in their system

It looks like they know what glutenfree means, but it did not go well unfortanaly. I had the satay and de nasi with fried chicken. So it is not safe, although we asked several times.

Really nice little place. good value, and understanding of coeliacs disease and what is and isn’t gluten free - nice to be able to eat and feel relaxed rather than worried!

They know about gluten! And they speak English. I shared fried chicken with fried rice and also fish with rice (local style). It was so good to finally eat something local and had no stomachache!! Just go if you have gluten allergy.

We went to Mew’s cafe, and they served my celiac son fried chicken and fried rice and he did not get sick:)

I went to Mews today and the cafe staff are very friendly. When I told them I couldn't eat soy sauce or flour, they double checked and made a special Laksa dish for me without soy sauce and it was amazing. By far the best Laksa I've had here. It was really nice because most of the staff speak English which was harder to navigate in Penang. Highly recommend this spot.
