As a Texas girl who loves Tex-Mex and knows it hard to find similar flavors outside of the region, I truly enjoyed this place! I had the chicken enchiladas and they were fantastic. I didn’t love the rice and beans they felt like they were missing something, but all was GF. We had chips and guacamole which was fabulous and the plantains, also delicious. We ordered the GF churros and OMG so freaking good. We also ordered the tres leches, it’s a good gf sub but it was too dense and heavy to finish it.
So many options. Waitress was so sweet and asked if anyone had allergies, which always makes it easier!! Had the queso dip, birria tacos, and churros. Yum!!!
Really good food! Allergy friendly. I have a gluten and dairy allergy — we got chips and salsa, agave wings (super good BUT must ask to be made allergy-friendly!!!), tacos, and margs.
The hibiscus marg was really good! Heads up, the Baja shrimp taco CANNOT be made dairy free
It’s a pretty expensive restaurant — if you are a student, I highly suggest waiting to go on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (15% off for students). Tuesdays they have taco Tuesday where it’s half off.
Hello,
I'm the owner of Mex Taqueria & Bar. Recently, a lot of my customers have told me they are finding the restaurant off of this website so I wanted to provide some information to the community that I hope is helpful. Mex has a tremendous amount of GF options on both our Lunch/Dinner and Brunch menus. Allergy safety is taken extremely serious in the restaurant as the owner's families are directly impacted by the concerns. We look forward to seeing you at the taqueria where we are happy to answer any additional questions about the menu. Definitely try the GF churros and weekend pancakes!!!
The food was delicious and I felt super safe. I am a very sensitive celiac and had no issues. I enjoyed chips and salsa and queso, a delicious pork quesadilla with rice and beans, and gf churros that were so so good! Will definitely recommend this place and be back any time we are in town. Cool atmosphere too.
I’ve been here multiple times and never gotten sick! Brunch menu im has lots of gf options including gluten free pancakes! Separate fryer for chips and the guacamole is SO good.
For dinner, all the deserts were gluten free - including gluten free churros in a gf fryer! And amazing gf tres leches cake!
Five of my family members have gluten sensitivities, one is allergic to dairy, and four cannot have soy…so it is difficult to find a place to eat out. We were so excited to discover that we could eat almost everything on the menu here! The flavors are complex and interesting - adults and children alike really enjoyed their meals.
Most of the menu is available GF. The menu doesn’t say what is GF, but my server was very knowledgeable. I got the pork quesadilla and it was delicious. It came out of the kitchen with a gluten allergy flag on it, which made me feel confident that my meal was safe. I also enjoyed the guacamole. The non-gf people in my group all really enjoyed their meals too.
