They claim to be gluten free even have a GF menu, yet they cook everything in the same oil! pretty sure I wouldn't consider that GF! I'm glad I asked before eating it and getting sick!!

They glutened my celiac daughter! The staff is NOT trained in GF prep, and the "gluten free" menu is a farce. After reading about this place on this site, I called to inquire whether the GF menu was kid-friendly. I was told that many items on the kids menu, including nachos, could be made GF. On arriving, I again asked if chips were GF and was told they were. I then asked for the GF menu, which is extensive and nicely printed but said nothing about cross-contamination. On seeing fries on that menu, I asked the server if a separate fryer was used for them. She had no idea what I was talking about. So I asked if the chips- which my daughter was already eating- were prepared in a separate fryer. The server went back and checked and determined that nothing, including the chips, had been cooked or prepped separately. I'm appalled that this place would hold themselves out as GF and totally fail to train the staff in any cross-contamination issues. Don't eat here if you're celiac!!!!

Mexicali has made an effort to have Gluten free substitutions for items in their menu. The food is awesome. It is very much a California style Mexican food. The best in Vermont. We came here a lot be for my allergy was diagnosed and love that I can still come here.
