Michael Forbes Bar & Grille

I gave them 2 stars because they're trying. But a bunch of their menu items that are supposed to be gluten free are not. They don't have a dedicated fryer. That means all of their chips and fries are fried in the same oil as floured items. When I asked about this I was told all the flour settles on the bottom. Ah, no. Anything fried should be considered contaminated. I also think I got glutened with my salad. Even though I have Celiac, I can't always tell for sure. I love that they have GF buns and bread, and are making an effort. But they have a ways to go on learning what GF really means.

We picked Michael Forbes because of their GF menu. We had questions for our waitress n she answered with statements like, I think that would be gf... I guess it will be gf. They need more education. I had the grilled chicken breasts and he had the prime rob sandwich, both gf. We both felt that the food was mediocre. I got glutenized. I won't be going back to Michael Forbes.

Went to MF for the first time. Our waitress was not well educated on the gf menu options. When I asked about gf options she would say, "I ASSUME it's because of a sauce or something." All of her answers about the menu had "I guess" or "I assume" in them. Scary. So we tried to make safe choices ourselves and got gf Brookside Burgers. They arrived with breaded onions. My husband asked her if she was SURE those were gf? She said "I assume so..." I told her I get really sick with gluten, please go check. She came back, removed our plates and said sorry. The second set of burgers were good, but I was not feeling safe. The gf buns were very tasty and the fries are supposedly from a gf fryer. They've got great options here, a little more education could go a long way.

GF marked on menu. chicken nachos w/ cheese sauce and smoky house-made salsa that are to die for. seriously.
