Menu has lots of gluten free options, but when I asked about how food is prepared there is a ton of cross contamination and server was not knowledgeable at all about GF.
I ordered the shakshuka which was labeled GF on the menu. When it came out they served it with regular toast???
I don’t know why you’d label a menu item gluten free and then serve it with regular toast.
I had to ask because at that point because I totally didn’t trust it. And they confirmed that the toast had gluten. They asked if I wanted gluten free toast but then also told me their was cross contamination in the kitchen so I might not want the toast… so yeah - I won’t be coming back.
I could also hear the server and people in the kitchen complaining that I asked if the toast had gluten in it. (And we all know how uncomfortable it can be to ask about celiac related things in restaurants - so this was really disappointing and unprofessional to hear especially because the menu item was labeled GF)
They take care to prepare celiac orders separately, and they are familiar with the protocols necessary to make a celiac order. BUT it is a small restaurant and is very short-staffed. They clean their oven to make a celiac order, so they need extra time to do so. It took a very looong time to get our order. The waiter suggested calling ahead before you come, if you have celiac.
It was disappointing that I couldn’t get the GF pancakes or waffles; I was advised against it for cross-contamination reasons. I ended up ordering an omelette, and they pan fried the potatoes for me so they wouldn’t be contaminated. (They did this without a special request, as I didn’t realize potatoes came with the dish.) It’s obvious, then, that their wait staff and kitchen staff were knowledgeable about gluten issues. I believe they had GF bread available, and some of the bowls are likely GF, but I didn’t ask about those items.
