So we used to come here whenever we were in San Diego. It’s been two years and we returned. They don’t have a GF menu. The waitress was clueless about GF. She asked the cooks and it was clear what from she told us the cooks were clueless about GF as well. So I took my daughter across the parking lot to Flower Child. It was awesome. Everything on the kids menu was GF. It looked delicious. They made it quick and we took it to go back to Milton’s to eat dinner with the rest of our party. We got lucky. It worked out well for us in the end. But I had to give an update from my original review shown below.
2 years prior: We love this place. There is a separate GF menu with lots of options. My daughter has Celiacs and is highly sensitive to gluten. She has never gotten sick here. We eat here every time we are in town. There is also a bakery attached with GF cookies and yummy giant GF brownies. They also sell delicious Miltons crackers there as well. We usually buy those at home at Costco. We like the Sea Salt flavored crackers.
We went to Miltons this morning based on the reviews we read on this site. However, we were very disappointed. The wait staff tried to be helpful, but almost nothing was gluten free. The waiter had to ask the chef several times, because he did not want to make a mistake. Finally, the hostess found a gluten free menu. It had almost nothing listed. Needless to say it was frustrating. The restaurant did nothing wrong, but the reviews were really flawed.
majority of the items are GF
wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful on GF needs
carrot cake is GF and very good
only area to improve is the fryer : do not have a separate fryer
Was excited to try this place but was very disappointed. EXTREMELY expensive (50 for half sandwiches and a bowl of soup for the hubs) and a non-helpful gluten free menu with wait staff that were not very in the know. They did have the GF menu but it didn't list all parts of the name or sides and was really small compared to the main menu. Additionally, pretty sure they glutened me as I wound up with a headache and felt really off the rest of the day. Do not recommend this place.
