I came here based on the universally good reviews on FMGF (except the most recent one) and ended up not able to order any food.
We were not given menus, just a QR to scan which lead to a pretty bad web based menu. I’d seen when I researched in advance that gf pasta was available so I told the server I had celiac and asked about the gluten free options. She told me the pizza could be done on a gf crust and that they had gf pasta.
I asked if the GF pasta was prepared separately and she went to check with the kitchen, then came back and confirmed it was. Great! I asked which of the past sauces were GF and she went back to the kitchen again. She came back and said that the kitchen said none of the sauces could be made safe for me, but the pasta was. Ok…. I’m not going to order a bowl of plain gf pasta.
I ended up drinking my glass of wine and ordering nothing. I appreciate the server checking the kitchen and her honesty - there may have been some confusion here between “we can’t guarantee no cross contamination” as a general CYA statement and “these dishes can be made separately and are gf”, but if even checking with the kitchen twice resulted in this response then this restaurant clearly cannot and isn’t interested in serving celiacs.
I spent the night in the ER after eating here for dinner. My husband had to call 911 so needless to say…I do not recommend!! We told the server multiple times that I have celiac disease and he assured me that it was safe. I know I’m always taking a risk at a place that isn’t a dedicated gf facility but I trust this app and feel that I ask the right questions when I go to a place. Anyways, proceed at your own risk…NEVER AGAIN! Spent $50 to get glutened and $300 ER visit plus ambulance bill.
We loved Mimos! We ate here for dinner on 12/28/23. The gluten free pasta was yummy. I ate a salad for starters with a vinaigrette dressing. For main I had GF penne pasta with a meat ragu sauce. It was very tasty and nice to eat on a cool evening. For desert I ate the crème brûlée which was perfect. Pricing was on par for what you’d expect in downtown SD with the quality and service delivered.
Absolutely delicious. I get annoyed that the only GF pasta ever offered is penne, which is also the case here. However, the food was phenomenal, as was the service and the atmosphere. The prices were reasonable too. All the sauces are gluten free and the staff is very knowledgeable! I had the vodka sauce and it was the best I’ve had. Highly recommend!
Great food and experience! Daughter and I are both celiac. They were very responsive to all GF questions. They made GF Mac and cheese for my daughter, delicious. For me they confirmed they make the GF pizza in a separate pan to prevent cross contamination. No reaction the day of or after. And super tasty! Highly recommend!
Had a great experience. Pretty much everything can be made gluten free except the meatballs. Everything else we asked about they said they just make it to order gluten free. Food was excellent and reasonably priced! Kids had the regular gluten pizza and they loved it. My gluten free pasta dish was awesome. Highly recommend if you are in Little Italy to give this place a try!
This was wonderful food. I got a little glutened. At first the waiter was really attentive, and then he became sloppy with service at our table. Too bad. Nice atmosphere.
Great gf food and the atmosphere is inviting. I had the gf penne with meat sauce and it was really good. Knowledgeable staff and very accommodating.
You can get any of their pasta dishes and replace it with the gluten free rigatoni pasta (they also knew the sauces shouldn't have flour - they're very knowledgable about what has gluten in it). I had the oven baked penne and it was out of this world yummy!!!!
