Wait staff is well informed about celiac. The menu lists gluten free items, and more specifically, the online menu states that all fried menu items are gluten free. I informed the server of having celiac and the server assured me that they would inform the kitchen. When the food arrived the server told me they triple checked with the kitchen that all items prepared on the plate were gluten free. I appreciate the level of care and attention from the staff and definitely felt safe eating here.
A good destination for gluten free diners if you don’t have any other allergies. My egg allergy made every single fried dish out of reach, which was frustrating to say the least especially since I was able to enjoy egg free fried shrimp and haddock at the Mile Marker restaurant just down the street.
That said, the truffle fries and orange chicken were memorable and I think most diners ok this app would leave satisfied with the number of GF choices.
Great celiac safe place. Staff was very knowledgeable about cross contamination, and even double checked with the kitchen staff after bringing out my food. They even have a dedicated fryer!!!! Had the bang bang shrimp, blackened swordfish, and sweet potato fries. Great spot and did not get sick afterwards!
The vibe at Minglewood is chill and enjoy. More of a bar, with live music at times, it nonetheless has a very large menu of varied dishes, seafood and otherwise, that are marked GF and many that can be modified for GF. The hostess and server were knowledgeable about CD and I had incredible sushi with no reaction. And the server said there are 2 fryers, one being dedicated GF. The outside deck is pleasant, though the view is mainly of docked boats. Still, you see water and sky and it's a very nice place to eat. It's also much quieter that inside where canned music pumps away rather loudly (but no worse than most restaurants these day.) This is a place I can't wait to go back to so that I can try more fare.
Got the bbq steak tips gluten and dairy free meant no potato options as they all contain butter. Had a side salad instead and green beans. Food was very yummy. Server was knowledgeable. This was the best meal I had in Gloucester.
The restaurant is now called Minglewood. We were excited to see a separate gluten free menu with a large selection. They listed their fries on the gluten free menu and the waiter told us they share oils with the gluten food this rendering it useless. Why lie to us like that by putting it on the menu? This is a trend I’m seeing a lot at restaurants and it scares me. The food was just ok and we made it work for our toddler who was sad he couldn’t get fries by ordering avocado, mashing it ourselves and giving him a bag of chips we brought with us.
Really good food here! I got the roasted beet salad which was AMAZING! And some sushi which was good too!! I will definitely be back!
Good naruto roll and mango salmon roll. Wait staff is very warm and friendly
They have good sushi. It is the only thing I will order here. Anytime I try to order something other than sushi, they have difficulty making sure it is gluten free.
I have been here twice and I've been very happy. I had the scallops last time, which were amazing. Tonight I had a gluten free sushi and Caesar salad. I asked if they could hold the croutons for my salad to make it gluten free. Not only did they do that, but they came back and said that they checked their house dressing, and it wasn't gluten free--so they made a special dressing from scratch just for me! They were so mindful of it all, and I feel great after eating there. Plus, the food is very good!
