Mission barbecue is one of the best chains for GF. No GF bread, but there is an accessible GF menu and a dedicated separate fryer. When you alert them to your GF needs, they immediately tell the other staff to prepare the GF fryer. The pulled chicken is delicious, and *most* barbecue sauces offered are GF!
I asked for a GF menu and was immediately given one. Food was delicious!!! My only complaint is that the fact that my meal was GF possibly wasn't communicated to the kitchen, and a piece of cornbread was on my plate. It wasn't touching my other food, so I moved it off. All on all, I can highly recommend this restaurant!
As is true of most places, some staff members are more careful/knowledgeable than others, but they are trained in safety, and they ensure that the kitchen staff knows when a gluten free order is coming back! They have several delicious options, and 5/6 of their bbq sauces are gluten free!!!
We found this place by accident and I’m so glad! This has been one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had since being diagnosed with celiac. The staff offered to get the manager to talk to me to make sure I was taken care of and the manager made every effort to ensure I felt safe ordering. He had everyone in the kitchen change their gloves (without me asking). They even served my baked sweet potato uncut to ensure no opportunity for contamination. Every staff member made me feel special, not a nuisance. Delicious food too. I didn’t get the fries, but there is a dedicated fryer. Amazing experience!
I visit this location often, as the food is delicious and they have a dedicated fryer! They have a gluten free menu and most of the staff is knowledgeable about celiac disease and gluten free foods. I haven’t experienced any cross contamination, however I have caught them before leaving with my food. When the worker shows you your food before you leave, don’t be afraid to speak up. I always watch closely and the last time, I had to ask for a new meal because the worker was packaging pound cake and then grabbed my fries. They were very understanding and apologetic about this cross contamination situation. I’m just glad I caught it myself. I always get the pulled pork platter and fries… their green beans are great too! Make sure to ask which sauces are gf before you go!
Would be perfect but depends on who takes your order. Most of them care to protect you but someone I just had last night looked miserable and didn't even say gluten free to the staff and then charged me more than I ordered. Didn't warn be about texas bbq having gluten (although I already knew) just make sure you ask them or else you can be glutened.
