We dined here in mid-October 2023 and were excited about eating at a place that was clearly knowledgeable and supportive of specific dietary needs and restrictions.
We let the server known that we required Gluten-Free menu items due to Celiac Disease and he was very helpful in steering us towards the menu items, including specials, that would avoid any cross-contamination issues.
For example, when selecting between two GF items on the menu, we inquired whether the restaurant had a dedicated fryer for GF menu items to avoid cross-contamination. After pondering briefly, he noted that it did not and suggested we try the Oyster Mushroom Risotto (marked GF on the menu) rather than the Pan Roasted Organic Chicken that included "crispy polenta" which was fried in-house. This menu item was also marked GF on the menu, however, upon realizing that they did not have a dedicated fryer, it was clear it would not be safe to consume. We recommended that they maybe would want to remove the GF annotation on the menu because of the fried polenta item.
We were offered gluten-free bread which we appreciated but chose not to eat. The only other items ordered were an iced tea and a Rosemary Beef Stew soup of the day, which we were assured was Gluten-Free. It is unclear which of these items eaten was the cause of the cross-contamination, but it definitely was a factor, unfortunately.
We went on and enjoyed our dinner, however, roughly an hour after returning home from dinner, my dining companion became sick, with the symptoms she is all too familiar with being related to gluten cross-contamination in her meal. We were very disappointed that this happened and surprised because it was in stark contrast to the other reviews on FindMeGlutenFree.com and some personal recommendations from the "Visit Spokane" tour office.
To the Mizuna staff and management, we are sure this was not done intentionally, but please, please do educate your front of house and kitchen staff of how extremely important it is to do better with the food preparation. Cross-contamination is real but it can also be avoided with additional effort from the employees. We'll spare you the gory details on how much gastrointestinal distress consuming gluten is for those with Celiac Disease, but know that it is not simply an eat and eject experience. The symptoms last for at least a full day and are extremely unpleasant and painful.

When they tell me they're meticulous about preparing gluten-free cuisine with caution, I believe them. I've eaten here multiple times with no issues. They're on the pricey side, so get your money's worth by eating slowly and savoring the deliciousness.

Delicious food and very creative. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Almost everything is GF or can be GF.

Oh man, I have so many good things to say about this place. Their food, the service, the accommodations. Everything. It was so perfect. I alerted the waitress that I had celiac and she had the kitchen serve me gluten free bread so I could enjoy the oil and vinegar. All of their menu items are labeled appropriately. I had the steak and Gorgonzola mashed potatoes and it was amazing. Definitely recommend!

Wow - food was fabulous and staff was so knowledgeable that I could enjoy every bite without worrying about getting sick. Gluten free or not, check this place out!!!
Yes
Expensive but so worth it. The food is always so amazing and the staff will listen about food allergies and disease. They label the dinner options, there’s a good amount of gf df! Their appetizers and lunch stuff, I don’t think it has a gf label but they will tell you which ones you can have! Never been sick from cross contamination but I’m not sure if they have a dedicated work space. Next time I’m there I will ask!
