The bagels, flavored cream cheeses, and donuts are very good. This is the old (GF) Bread Block location and they still sell the (GF) Bread Block breads. The owner should market the facility as gluten free so customers don't have to ask if everything is gluten free and not worry that recipes may change.

This place is absolutely amazing, everything is gluten free and it’s actually really good. I had craved a bagel and a donut since finding out I’m celiac, and this place filled that craving. I think about flying back to LA just to go here.

The food was incredible. I had two donuts, the pumpkin bun (phenomenal), and a sesame bagel with chive cream cheese. I loved all of it, so so good! The staff was so incredibly nice. I accidentally spilled my drink because it was a little crowded and they helped me clean and even made me a new one without asking. She also made sure to tell me there was no issues with cross contamination when I was stressed. There’s also a little patio outside to eat! It’s narrow, but it works. Great place!

Everything here was AMAZING; hands down my new favorite GF bakery. We purchased a variety of baked goods including the breakfast sandwiches. Pretty sure the vegan sausage is made from mushrooms but as someone who typically doesn't go for mushrooms, I'd have this again and again - it was so yummy! The donuts were flaky and fried and tasted like REAL donuts with incredible frosting - no idea how they do this but so glad they do :) The cinnamon bread was also delicious as was their latte. They also used Oatley oat milk so safe for Celiac as well. If I could give this bakery 10 stars, I would.

What a joy to discover this dedicated gf bakery in Santa Monica! I had a toasted seeded bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, pickled onions, arugula, and tomato -- the best by far gf bagel I have ever had! It was just right chewy and delicious. I brought home a generous slice of pumpkin bread, which was the special for the day, and a slice of blueberry coffee cake, both delicious. Oh, and the coffee is good, too. I'll be back for sure! (My only disappointment was there was no where to dine in apart from a counter facing the back wall with a couple of chairs.)

Both me and my 17 year old son are coeliac. On holiday from the UK. We bought toasted sesame bagels with cream cheese and they were so good, but the doughnuts were a real game changer. Best we’ve ever had!

Everything bagel toasted with cream cheese was pretty good, but quite dense and chewy. I was so happy to have my first GF bagel from a restaurant that wasn't just plain. I was a bit disappointed and only had half of the bagel. Also ate their seasonal August S'mores toaster tart, which was pretty good. Probably wouldn't return.

The best GF desserts I have had in a long time. Erin is amazing and so helpful. The desserts taste like the real deal (15 years GF and my husband is not and we both agree). Bread, sandwiches, donuts and the chocolate zucchini bread. Yum!! And the portion sizes are super sized!!!

Everything you could want from a bagel shop and it’s all GF. Donuts are very tasty and have good texture. The bagels are nice and chewy and so much better than the grocery store GF options. Worth the price and trip.

So happy they opened this location! It’s always a treat to be able to order anything off the menu. The bagel sandwiches are amazing and they have a wide selection of cakes, donuts, and pastries. A must visit for celiacs!

Top flight baked goods. Legit bagels and babka as well as yummy cafe offerings. So many things to try here. A must stop on the west side of town. Hopefully they open more across the city. I’d rank this #1 GF bakery I’ve had.

Great find after flying into LAX and looking for GF options. Amazing selection of GF baked goods and vegan breakfast options. My bagel breakfast sandwich was top notch and the rest of my family (who are not GF) loved their meals.

Pros:Safe and yummy. So many things I've not been able to eat in years ...Donuts, challah bread, loafs ,bagels ,pastries
The coffee/ espresso is VERY good.
Cons: a bit expensive ( $70 for breakfast and coffee for 2 adults+2 kids)...I'd happily pay it again.
Also there is NO seating

We ate there two days in a row and neither one of us got sick. Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Second day we couldn't get what we wanted bc they sold out. So order early in the day to have the best options. They have some vegan options too! 10/10

Heaven for the gluten-free! Modern Bread and Bagel boasts a mouthwatering selection of breakfast sandwiches, cookies, cakes, and breads – all 100% gluten-free and bursting with flavor.
We had delicious breakfast sandwiches (egg, cheese and vegan bacon). I couldn't leave without trying something sweet. The selection of baked goods was incredible. Definitely a must visit location for us when in the Los Angeles area.

Like heaven! I had a delicious breakfast sandwich and a great cup of coffee. My husband (who is not gf) really enjoyed his bagel. We got some treats for the road too and loved them.
We were traveling from Massachusetts and I wish there was one of these close to me. It was really good.

Finding The Modern Cafe was like entering an Oasis! Knowing I could eat anything was like being blessed. The bagels were huge! I didn’t take a photo of my meal because I was focused on eating… We don’t eat sweets so didn’t try the delicious looking doughnuts. They have takeout prepared dishes like humous and veggie sticks. The Manager Eli and his staff David and Stephanie are awesome. Most customers were picking up on line orders. GOT TO LOVE IT

BEST honey glazed GF donuts EVER! Amazing Latkes, Cesar salad and open faced sandwiches! And completely safe for Celiac as it’s completely gluten free! Ahhhh so happy we went back twice in one day just to get more to go and to thank the great staff there! MUST TRY! Note: not a cafe, they have a little patio around the corner to enjoy your goodies!

As a resident of Santa Monica, I am so happy Modern Bread & Bagel opened on the west side. It’s totally GF and everything I had is delicious. It’s so awesome to be able to get GF challah. They have specials every month. It’s just nice to be able to get a bagel and cream cheese whenever I want!

AMAZING!! My non gluten free friends said they couldn’t taste a difference. Best coffee I have ever had too! Cookie was amazing and chewy. Zucchini bread was moist and amazing. I would avoid the rugelach.
