I felt very safe eating here! The server specifically asked if I had Celiac when I mentioned my gluten allergy and rattled off the GF options without me even having to ask. There are a few appetizers (roasted chicken wings and deviled eggs) and a fair amount of entree options (fish tacos, fish sandwich with a lettuce wrap, salads, burger with no bun) that are gluten free. They also have a yummy GF dragonfruit cider (Paradise Ciders brand). I enjoyed mango lychee sorbet for dessert!

Server super knowledgeable. Deviled eggs were amazing and burger (no bun) also really yummy. Lots of cocktails too!

Limited choices overall, they can modify a couple of dishes to make them gf. I believe the fish tacos and deviled eggs were the only items truly gluten free so that’s what we ordered. The tacos were terrible, the fish was dry and overcooked. Based on the reviews, I asked for the mole sauce on the side so I could control the level of spicy. Glad I did because that sauce is crazy spicy (no mention of that on the menu). But I think it made the tacos even more dry and tasteless. Deviled eggs were salty and had too much mayo.

I had a mai tai & the fish tacos. They were the worst fish tacos of my trip by far. Ick. So unnecessarily spicy. The lobster deviled eggs were really good. The server did ask if I had celiac and I felt really safe eating GF here. No one else in my group loved their food either. This place is an expensive bar & way too loud which isn't my vibe. If you want actually delicious food go next door to Leilani's.

Limited GF options but the fish tacos were fantastic - some of the best I’ve had. I was skeptical of the mole sauce, but it was a delicious, light sauce (very spicy though) and not like traditional mole. Atmosphere is very much party vibes, which wasn’t my favorite, but that’s their thing.

Waitress assisted me with getting 3 delicious fish tacos. I not only need gluten free but also dairy and soy free.

Great spot near the coast and shopping. I got the fish tacos which were good. There were limited options, but overall a great experience. I even got a to-go order the next day to take on a snorting trip.

Was recommended this place for being very GF friendly however GF options not marked on menu, and they had VERY limited GF options (no GF pizzas, no GF bread or burger buns) and many other seemingly GF friendly options for some reason or another were not. I was really disappointed. Was also told by the server there was nothing to be done about cross contamination of fries in the fryer. Told cleaning between cooking rounds was “not an option”. 🙄😒

We came here twice during happy hour while in Maui for a week. The first time we came we had reservations the second time we did not. We had to wait about 30 minutes. They have a great happy hour entertainment and deals. My favorite Mai Thai of the trip from Monkeypod! I wish they had more gluten-free options. I got the chicken wings, but they were too spicy for me. My Group also enjoyed the pizzas, burgers, and fries, as well as other cocktails. My young sons really enjoyed getting cocktails here. Staff was friendly & helpful.

Fish tacos are GF as is. One visit the server said the fries have their own fryer, the next visit the server said not GF due to cross contamination. I’m pretty happy with fish tacos and a Mai tai

Server was knowledgeable about the GF options and double checked with kitchen for my options. I got the fish tacos and had no issues! I got a lilikoi mocktakl as well that was delicious.

Items aren’t marked gluten free on the menu, but thanks to this app, I went into it wanting the fish tacos with mole sauce. Our waitress confirmed it was gluten free. The fish tacos were great. I also ordered the broccoli which was really good too. Planning to go back again this week for the same meal!

Got the fish tacos and they were delicious! Kamalei was our server and she was fabulous. She knew exactly what my options were and when another server brought out our food he specified “prepared for celiac” which I really appreciated!

We had a great experience! I led by telling my waiter that I had food allergies and safely had a vodka cranberry and burger patty. I avoided the fries because they do not have a dedicated fryer. The atmosphere made it really worth it to join my family at this restaurant!

Great service. They took precautions to make sure my meal was safe. The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contamination. Cooked my meal in a clean skillet with dedicated utensils . The macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi was amazing.

One more vote for the fish tacos. They were knowledgeable and confident.
Yes
No separate frier but I had the night’s fish special and it was delish.
Yes
Very friendly staff. Some gluten free options. The fries are not gluten free. But they have gluten free tacos. The staff seemed knowledgeable
Previous review said they would cook fries separately. Nope. They will not serve you fries if you tell them you have Celiac! Thank goodness! I had the burger, no bun. No issues.
Yes
They can make their fries in a separate fried and gave me my burger without a bun. Great mai tais too!
Yes
Lovely, knowledgeable staff, delicious food. Definitely not dedicated gf, but I was able to eat! Got Brussels sprouts and fish sandwich with a lettuce wrap instead of the bun and both tested find on my Nima sensor.
Yes
Staff was well informed on GF options. I felt safe eating the food and was not sick afterwards.
Not so great. Grilled mahi mahi on the side of avocado and cucumber salad passed my nima test and was nicely pan grilled if there is such a thing. However the fish tacos which were promised to be GF did not pass and gluten was found. Unfortunately, by that time the kitchen was closed so we had to share the salad and one piece of fish and went without one of our dinners.
I’m here right now and don’t understand the previous reviews as they tell me their fryer is NOT dedicated, and the only gf thing they have is fish tacos and chicken wings but they (wings) are spicy.
Tried to have lunch here on our vacation. We were encouraged by the positive reviews but disappointed in the menu options and lack of knowledge of gluten issues from the hostess and waitress. Seems the only options were fish tacos (available gluten free just about everywhere) and a salad of sorts with a $14 added fish option. We left and went to the Hula Grill next door where we have eaten countless times with no gluten issues and with better options. Monkey Pod is way over-rated in this diner's opinion. I give it 3 stars because it does have some gluten free options but only three due to the limited choices and lack of knowledge of the staff we encountered.
No
Excellent fish tacos! Menu isn’t marked with gf but staff knowledgeable and very accommodating.
Yes
Great fish tacos! Awesome vibe and location!
This place had delightful fish tacos! The fish was zesty and mouth-watering. We could tell they put a lot of effort in it. This is good for people who enjoy fresh, yummy dishes. Highly recommended for a nice dinner out.
Yes
They didn't have a physical gf menu, but they told me that the fish tacos and salads we're gluten free. It was a little pricey at $20-30 an entree. I had the fish tacos and they were good. They did ask if I was celiac, and took extra precautions.
Yes
Not a ton of gluten free options, but the waitstaff was very accommodating both times we went. I have Celiac and did not get sick either time, and I loved the fish tacos!
My wife is celiac and I’m the supportive husband. It was her first time eating fish tacos and she loved them! Fresh fish makes all the difference. The staff was very knowledge about their menu and made great recommendations for her. Cool little joint.
Yes
Wow! I was blown away by this place! They do not have a GF menu but their staff was very knowledgeable about what items contained gluten & what they didn't know they went to ask the chef. The food was tasty & their Mai Tai's are supreme (voted best on island for past 5 years)!
Fish tacos were great. Server’s knowledge about Celiac iffy. She told me explicitly that the fries were GF but when I questioned her about whether they had a dedicated fryer she had to ask the kitchen and it turned out they only have one fryer.
No actual gluten-free menu, but pretty knowledgeable staff. Had the fish tacos one day and the lobster deviled eggs another. Unfortunately, the poke (and many sauces marinades) are made with regular soy sauce, so not an option. The salads sound good, as do several of the other entrees. And great happy hour...definitely planning to return again during my trip!
