Had the shrimp creole (sausy dark red left in picture) chicken jumbalaya (right in picture), and fries. Everything was marked on menu and they notified me that the fries were in a dedicated fryer. Didn’t feel any issues after eating here. Everything was delicious!

We went three years ago for breakfast. The food was good and GF was clearly marked.
I went back today for dinner. The first time it was a sit down restaurant. For dinner, we waited an hour to order food at the counter and have it delivered to our table. My food was reheated food. It was not very flavorful and I was really disappointed.

Got gluten poisoning. Believe it was from the jambalya which was marked gluten free. I also got fries but I think the jambalya was the problem.

I was surprised to find many gluten free options and the menu is well marked. My son loved the jambalaya, and all the food was delicious. Mother’s is an institution. Don’t miss it, and you don’t have to,

The lady behind the counter seemed very knowledgeable. I had Jerry’s Jambalaya, Shrimp Creole, Red Beans and Rice, Jake’s Green Bean’s and Tomatoes and Potato Salad. It was all very good, but not extremely hot. I did not react to any gluten. 👍🏻

Since moving to New Orleans I have had to just risk it a few times despite usually being very careful since I have celiac disease. Going to Mother's was one of the times I risked it and trusted what was listed on the menu without cross-checking with any of the staff. I did not have any problems at all so based on that one experience I think what they list as gf is pretty safe! It was also tasty! I had the jambalaya, red beans and rice, and potato salad.

Was excited to get red beans and rice but they couldn’t confirm that it was gluten free and dairy free despite indicating on menu. All could get was salad with no dressing (that came out with ranch dressing on the side so the kitchen wasn’t monitoring the dairy allergy closely)

We finally ate here when the line slowed down & we decided to come for breakfast. I am not a big Cajun eater but I love breakfast & was hoping the protein would be safe and it totally was! I ordered a ham & cheese omelette with cheese grits on the side, just asked for no biscuit. It was great & I never had any problems!

Very busy place with a lot of GF options. I was worried about cross contamination so I kept it simple and got the jambalaya (which was good, not the best I’ve had but good). They did have many more options, but I’m super sensitive so just stick with that.

Delicious jambalaya. Not spicy but hot sauce was available on the table. Large portions. Great service. They accidently brought it with bread the first time but the guy who rang up the order was being trained. I watched our server go back, change her gloves, and prepare a fresh plate. No side affects so far.

Great classic southern food spot with a ton of GF options. I had the red beans and rice plate with the debris (roast beef) in au jus, turnip greens, and potato salad. I also tried the baked ham (prepared blackened) that my husband got. All of it was great in flavor and the atmosphere was good and very chill too. (FYI it’s in a busy area but they have a private paid parking lot which made it really convenient to come here for dinner!)

Got the jambalaya and the potato salad, no reaction (the potatoes were bland, but that might have been simply compared to the jambalaya - that was delicious with chicken and sausage and I wish I had just gotten a bigger container of that alone).
Seems like a good chance of possible cc though since everything is cooked in a small space. No issues but worth mentioning just in case.

I got glutened after eating here. I had the veggie omelet which seemed safe but they brought it out with a biscuit on the plate, which I’m sure is what caused the issue, more than the omelet. I thought it would be fine but I was pretty miserable that night.

Food is pretty good, not sure how diligent they are with GF but I had no reactions. For a place that’s pretty famous, the staff seems to have an “eat and get out” vibe. Not the type of joint you sit and enjoy the atmosphere, but the type of place you eat and go about your day. But the options are extensive and they do have mimosas and bloody Mary’s.

I got glutened.
Appreciate the attempt to mark items on the menu, but it’s a bad sign when employees don’t know the difference between vegan and GF.
Crumbs everywhere in this place. Don’t see how it could ever be safe for celiacs.

Delicious. Got the combo plate to try some of almost everything. The jambalaya was great. Shrimp Creole and red beans were good too. My husband said the crawfish étouffée was amazing (not gf). Everything is marked. Staff was helpful!
If you go at a busy time be prepared to wait in line, maybe outside, but it’s worth it.

This place was delicious! I got the combination platter with shrimp creole and cabbage. Told them I was GF due to food allergy and had no issues. If you are super sensitive to bread being in the same vicinity as your food, I would avoid this place because they have tons of French bread for the Po Boys around the food prep area.

I don't know how anyone with celiac disease feels comfortable eating here. Walked in to find a ver small kitchen. Did not feel like the place was safe do to the amount of cross contamination. No dedicated area for allergy prep. The menu even says cross contamination is completely unavailable. I would stay away from eating here, especially if you are highly sensitive.

Honestly I was scared to eat here when I walked in. I emphasized gluten allergy multiple times when ordering and was hesitant to eat my food but I feel perfectly fine and I’m usually pretty sensitive. The food was great authentic southern food and I’m just so happy I didn’t get sick. I had fries, jambalaya, and cabbage.

Seems like a local hangout. My wife is highly sensitive to gluten and had the Jambalya with no problems. It felt a scary going in because there is a buffet looking bar where they make Po Boys but the other entrees some of which are GF items were prepared in the back. We avoided the sides.

Menu items are marked G. I had shrimp creole with green beans and turnips. Was good. Kind of hard ordering if you don’t already know what you want as you wait in line and place your order.
Menu is clearly marked and I ate here 3 times with no issues. Not sure how knowledgeable staff is, but food was delicious. I loved the red beans and rice!
The food here is so good! I was glad to be able to go somewhere and eat something that felt more like the local flair. Gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu. It isn't a dedicated cook area, but as someone with Celiac I had no problems with there food.
Yes
My son did well here and we were surprised! He is celiac and had the baked ham, red beans with rice and green beans. Food was really good
Staff knowledgeable and helpful with GF selections. Had grilled shrimp, sausage, turnips, cabbage, and jambalaya. All excellent, didn’t get sick at all, no reactions. I am gluten allergic.
Yes
All their meats, their grilled seafood and many sides are GF. Their main menu is marked and the price and serving sizes can’t be beat!
Omg...got the sample plate. The shrimp creole was so wonderful in addition to everything else. Menu labeled. I felt like I could really eat normal here.
Yes
Items are labeled GF, but extremely high risk for cross contamination. I ordered a salad and water to be safe and was very sick within the hour. Not safe for celiac. The wait staff were amazing, absolutely amazing, but the staff taking your order (you order when you first walk in not at your table) were rude and disrespectful.
No
Very high risk of cross contamination in the kitchen. The staff were very rude when we asked questions and wouldn't let us speak to manager. Definitely not a celiac friendly environment.
No
Tasty southern food! They have gluten free items marked on their menu. I ordered the red beans and rice platter with green beans, potato salad, and baked ham yesterday, and I haven’t had any breakout or stomach issues.
Yes
Really yummy food with a side of great history to the place.
Not fancy but good tasty New Oreans food.
Yes
Fries were marked gluten free but I became ill.
