An outstanding Chinese fine dining restaurant with fantastic food, excellent service and exquisitely decor. They have a gluten-free menu with excellent choices. They are open for lunch and dinner.
I live in a Chinese American household I lived in Chinese Asia (Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong) for decades. Mott 32 is always my go to restaurant for special occasions in any location. I am thrilled that they have a gluten-free menu. It is the first Chinese restaurant where I could eat high end gluten-free food. I am gluten-free; I talked with the maître d’. She said that many people who have celiac come to the restaurant and do fine with the food.
We ate the stir fried assorted wild mushrooms in lettuce cups with black truffles; wild mushroom and water chestnut dumplings; Peking Duck and a follow on course of fried rice with duck; sautéed string beans. All delicious and each had a special ‘wow’ presentation (well, except the string beans). We took back leftovers.
I asked about the Peking duck. They serve gluten-free pancakes, gf sweet bean sauce plus julienned cucumbers and scallions. The crispy skin of the duck has a very small amount of gluten. So ordering this dish depends on your tolerance for risk. It was absolutely delicious, and I was thrilled to be able to eat it again.
The server was very helpful when talking about the different dishes. While the kitchen is very careful with the gluten-free meals, he noted that it was an open kitchen, so there could be some cross-contamination.
This is a luxury restaurant with food priced accordingly.
