Amazing staff. Even though diff servers brought dishes to the table all of them would indicate which dishes were gluten free so coordination / communication amongst staff was great. We sat overlooking the kitchen and it is kept very clean as one would expect from a 1 star Michelin restaurant. Food was delicious.
Incredible fine dining experience! The staff is very knowledgeable about varieties of gluten intolerance. My sensitivity is moderate, so I can still have things like soy sauce, etc. Sometimes I get a funny look from a waiter when I explain that, but the server at Mourad didn’t blink an eye and was actually excited to accommodate me. The chef even made special rice crackers from scratch so I could enjoy their three famous spreads. Wow!! Those were the best rice crackers I have ever tasted. Now, if that’s just the crackers, go ahead and let your imagination run wild with how good the rest of the meal must have been!There were a good number of items on the menu that were already accessible to me; several others could be easily adapted. I was even able to freely enjoy most of their specialties! My favorite part of the experience was the service details. As each course was served, the waiter reviewed the ingredients in each dish and punctuated that it was indeed gluten free. Every. Single. Dish. So reassuring!!Mourad is rated at one Michelin star presently, but my husband and I agree it was the hands down best meal we had on our week-long visit to San Francisco and we would not be surprised at all if it landed a second star in the near future. I’d rank it right up there with Chez Panisse Café (another gluten conscious wonder in nearby Berkeley, CA.)If you’re looking for a special, safe, gluten conscious fine dining experience in San Francisco, you cannot go wrong at Mourad.
