There were a couple of the curry’s that were gluten free (I had pork) and there were some veggie options. Also they have tapas items, some of which are gluten free, just ask the server. I chose 4 spice level and it was VERY spicy x
Delicious curry in a very gluten aware restaurant. There was only one curry my daughter could order that was GF but all of our food was delicious. I like that you can choose your spiciness level. I had a 5 which was definitely very spicy for my Canadian taste buds. Others in our group ordered 0-2 levels.
went here yesterday and it was so nice! showed the waiter my coeliac translation card and he instantly showed me my options. i had four curries to choose from as well as some toppings. got the pork with level 5 spice, was delish and didn’t get sick! definitely go here if you’re wanting some good curry in shinjuku 🍛
A couple options for gluten free curry. Didn't get sick so it was a win!
Fantastic little curry spot!! We have been here twice during a trip to Tokyo.
Not all the curries are gluten free so make sure you communicate that you need that option. I had the cheese curry and the avocado curry on different days. I picked spice level two which had a nice heat without being overwhelming.
The lunch special came with two free boiled potatoes, iced tea and a side salad. There are also pickles but these are not gf and neither is the salad dressing.
The place has a really nice small local vibe too. It didn’t seem too touristy to us but is still in a really central convenient area.
I believe all the curries are meat based so not a good spot for vegetarians.
Really good curry. I chose the highest spice level and its tolerable. It's good that you can choose the spice level because sometimes food in Japan can be non-spicy. I got the three types of meat set and it was really good. I recommend coming here if you're in Shinjuku.
Several signs hanging up around the restaurant stating it’s wheat-free. I didn’t feel the need to show my allergen card, but I ordered the pork curry w/ an egg. I feel fine after eating here, but it is kinda spicy. Very rich and filling! Definitely a great option to try out some Japanese curry!
Lots of varying reviews on here. Went June 2024…. Waiter read my celiac travel card and immediately told me the pork curry was my only option. I had the curry without the pork and added egg and avocado instead since I’d read the pork was pretty fatty on anote review. Did not get sick so I can confidently say the rice doesn’t have barley in it. Meal was good. As others have said it is spicy! The scale is 1-20, my husband and I both got 3 thinking it would be mild but we both agreed it was quite spicy, noses running. I can’t even fathom what a ten much less 20 spice level would be! You have an option for small salad (cabbage with one wedge of tomato) or extra rice. The dressing they said had gluten so I went for the extra rice. I also had two small boiled potatoes from the “side toppings bar” I would call it. Husband had the chicken curry with side salad and said it was good. Interesting curry like none other, they have won several awards it looks like. Near Shinjuku station (right around the corner from the Godzilla statue).
This place is amazing! Best curry I’ve had! I ate here twice. The pork was ok small serving and but too fatty. I preferred the second time. I had avocado and fried egg. Something I have never had with curry. It was soooo good! Highly recommended. Tiny cute little spot in the middle of SHIBUYA. I highly recommend it.
They have an option of "gluten free barley rice" which doesn't inspire confidence, when I asked if they make rice without barley they said no it's sprinkled in all the rice, so safest option seems to be shredded cabbage which wasn't filling so I ended up ordering 2 plates but almost got a 3rd haha. Otherwise great food and prices luckily. Cosy atmosphere but seats are uncomfortable if you stay for a while
They have a big blurb on how they make the curry and thicken it with rice flour to make it gf.I had the 3 meat curry which was very nice, especially the chicken. Free water, colds teas, pickles and for some reason boiled potatoes. It was nice and quiet at 6pm on a Wednesday, perhaps we just missed the diner rush.
Really great restaurant!! Staff was very helpful. I ordered de pork curry. Which the waitress said it was the only gf. The pork melted in my mouth and the flavor of the curry was excellent. The best curry I’ve ever had. I really recommend being very careful with the spice level you chose for the curry. I picked the level 3 and it was quite spicy.
Enjoyed delicious curry! I ordered the avocado curry and added a soft boiled egg. Level 5 spice was quite spicy.
Waitress was helpful and proactively warned me that the pickles on the toppings bar were not gluten free. The salad dressing wasn't either, so avoid that.
I had no adverse reaction to anything, and I'm celiac and pretty sensitive.
So good I went here twice! Literally right next to Hotel Gracery Shinjuku (where I stayed) and was quick and filling. Pork, ratatouille, and cheese is GF. They provide toppings that are all GF, and it was all so delicious. I have them my legal nomads Celiac card and they pointed to everything I could eat. It's reeeaaally spicy so I got a 0 on the scale of 0-10 and it was really good.
This place surprised me bc it ended up being one of my favorite dinners in Tokyo! Staff did not speak English but I showed my celiac card and the employee pointed out which curries I could have (I think it was 2-3 options). I went with the ratatouille curry (just veggies) and added a plain soft boiled egg. It was sooo delicious. Also comes with plain boiled potatoes. I love spicy food and I got a 5 (0-10 spice scale) and it was HOT so just a warning!
Great little find had a lovely curry here which was gluten free all the curry’s on the menu were gluten free, I had the chicken curry spice level 10 which was really nice and spicy. Didn’t choose any of the toppings as wasn’t sure whether they would be gluten free. Had no gluten symptoms whatsoever so would highly recommend this place. Had an English menu too. It was also really cheap for 4 currys and a beer, it was only about £25
Absolutely delicious curry. Sure the service was indeed somewhat abrupt but the inside vibe was better than I thought it would be from the outside. Be aware some of the toppings/options were not gluten free but after consulting with the chef the waitress was able to clearly tell us which. Make sure you ask. A nice little haven from the madness of Shinjuku!
Award winning gluten-free curry shop. The curry itself is pretty good, just be careful of what toppings you choose. There is a self-serve pickle and potatoes bar. I believe the potatoes are just steamed. I had the pork belly curry at a level three spice. It was pretty good, but I think next time I would go for one level less spicy.
Great place for casual dining and Japanese’s curry The curry base is gluten free but just be mindful of what you add as some of the ‘add ons’ will have gluten in them. I got the pork curry with half baked cheese at a level 4 spice. If you don’t like spice I would go lower on the scale. Delicious and full of flavour
