Review

This place is not safe for celiacs. When I sat down, I told my waiter that I was allergic to gluten and asked what I was able to eat. He said that the menu had it listed, which it did. So, I found a breaded chicken meal that the menu said could be made gluten free. However, when I asked my waiter if that was possible, he said it had to be tofu if I wanted it gluten free. I was expecting I would be able to get a plain chicken breast but he refused to work with me since I’m not a big fan of tofu. He then pointed out that the whole roasted chicken was gluten free, but the menu did not state that. I was concerned that he didn’t know what gluten was even though I told him that flour was bad. However, I was getting frustrated so I ordered the roasted chicken, not trusting it was gluten free.

The menu at this restaurant comes with a salad or soup and a dessert as well. Since the soup was chicken noodle, I chose the salad and he brought it out with croutons on it after I specifically said no croutons. He looked confused when I told him I couldn’t eat the croutons, but he took it back and brought me a new one without croutons. Then came the meal. I barely trusted the chicken since it didn’t say gluten free on the menu, so I ate mainly the meat inside without touching the skin in case of gluten and I ate the potatoes and corn that came with it.

Lastly, the dessert was a huge issue. I knew they had vanilla ice cream in the kids menu, so I asked if I could trade out the boysenberry pie for that. He agreed and then brought me out a pie… he was confused once again when I said I couldn’t eat that and I had asked for ice cream. After a lot of convincing, he finally took the pie back and brought me ice cream.

Long story short, if you go here I hope you get a better waiter than I did. But I do not believe that this is safe for anyone with celiac.
