We went there because it seemed like they had a lot of options since they had a good amount of items listed gluten free. Only to find out that some of them were not truly gluten free because they put the gluten free items in the same flyer as other foods that are not gluten free. So I asked if they could cook the wings in an oven so they will be gluten free they said no. What was more frustrating was that the managers husband has celiac so she is well informed and yet things were not labeled on their menu correctly. The food we were able to eat was good though.
Items that were gluten free are clearly marked. I’m unsure whether there is a dedicated fryer, however I was not ordering any fried items. I had the Cobb salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were delicious and perfectly done. The salad was large with a lot of toppings and a chipotle ranch dressing. I did notice they have gluten free buns for burgers.
My daughter has celiac, she had a burger with GF bun and side salad. Menu is well marked and they alerted the kitchen to an “allergy”. Food was wonderful! Several GF options.
Waitstaff are familiar with GF issues. Menu has GFree items marked and some items are inherently GFree and staff can modify dishes where possible. GFree buns for their wonderful burgers. The day after a wonderful prime rib dinner that was a gfree special and no problems. Will make this a 'prime' OBX destination! Love the drinks too. Order an Orange Crush!
Always scary when you ask the waiter what is gluten free on the menu (which isn’t marked) and he emphatically replies…”we have gluten free buns!” Lol. Should have got up and walked out
He did go to the kitchen and ask for options, no manager sent to the table. My seared tuna came out with soy sauce that wasn’t gluten free even though I asked. After eating two bites another waitress came over and took the sauce away from me
My daughters burger was overdone, bun dry
We are suffering the consequences of cross contamination today. Please beware
Waitress Laura was a godsend. She went above & beyond to make sure i was taken care of. Even sent someone digging thru the trash can to check the box the fries came in to ensure they were safe. Brought me dishes of horseradish, ketchup, and safe lea and perrins to make my own cocktail sauce
I had the shrimp and grits which was delicious. Unfortunately even tho I ordered gf it came with a breadstick across it and needed to be remade. But it was delicious after they made a new one. The steamed combo was also gf. My husband got that so we could share. My waitress was very attentive.
Waitress was very knowledgeable about GF options and their safe handling procedures. They have GF buns and a dedicated fryer. Fries weren't our favorite, but all the rest of our food was very good. Menu had GF items clearly marked. Only concern I had was carried GF plate on tray with other items that had gluten, which could cause a problem but didn't for us.
They have gf buns, and if you are vegetarian, they also have the Beyond Burger. The bun wasn’t fantastic, but it was nice to be able to eat a burger at a restaurant for once. My food came out wrong the first time, but it was fixed very quickly and wasn’t an issue. Probably not the BEST place for gf options in the Outer Banks, but it was good and I didn’t get sick.
no gf menu. limited options. server was knowledgeable, though. gf bun.
Great burger and 1/2 price on Mondays. Liz our server was wonderful as well as the hostess. The gluten free bun was perfect and I had the Cali burger was done just as ordered. No issues with the gluten free with my Celiac.
My husband And I have been coming to Mulligan's for several years. Last year I was not yet diagnosed with gluten sensitivity and all the food was great. This year I was delighted to see so many GF offerings. I had a gluten free burger on a tasty gluten free bun and gluten free fries. OUTSTANDING! Maresa, a longtime employee, made our visit both last year and this year a wonderful experience.
Awful! Greeted at our table with "this section is closed! Can you sit somewhere else?!"...actually, no. The hostess just sat us here.10 mins of being ignored before we're asked for drinks. How about some waters first? One guest ordered a Gluten Free bun with her burger, but when a different waitress brought our order (as I guess the original miserable one quit/got fired/just gave up) she mixed the orders up resulting in our Gluten intolerant guest NEARLY eating something that could cause a severe, nasty reaction. Our gluten intolerant guest noticed this herself and when we pointed this out to our waitress she simply said "oh, sorry". Didn't even remove the $2 charge for a Gluten Free roll from the bill.
