Terrific food! GF shrimp and grits was amazing. Grits can sometimes be dry but this was not. Served in a flavorful broth. Mac and cheese was the best GF Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Period. GF fried chicken was a deboned thigh and (I think) breast pounded flat, breaded and served as a one good sized filet about 10oz. None celiac diner with us had a Kobe beef burger with amazing char. For such a modest establishment and location, the food was next level. Most menu items are GF and clearly marked on the menu. Highly recommended. I regret not staying for dessert.
I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to find a place like this. Gluten free southern cuisine with a twist a drizzle of BBQ sauce. The greens the black keyed peas the gluten free cakes. everything was terrific and the staff was the best and most friendly in LA. Don’t let the location stop you. If you are in LA GO.
Best GF fried chicken ever, and tested safe using Nima sensor. Oxtail tacos were also terrific and tested safe. WARNING: they randomly sometimes aren’t open and placing online orders for delivery fails all the time. The last two times I ordered for delivery the order failed after I waited like 2+ hours. Food is great but they don’t run their establishment well in my experience
Amazing vibe. Love it here. So many gf options I didn’t even know where to start!
One of my go to dinner places! I always get the bbq fried chicken and greens. All of their sides are gf and they have desserts from a local baker. Not all desserts are gf but if you’re lucky get the blueberry pound slice!
I had the bbq fried chicken. It was delicious and crispy. We also had the Mac and cheese and grits. I was the only celiac in our party today, but everyone enjoyed. Great service too!
They were very patient as I had to call multiple times on a Su day afternoon to a.) clarify what was Celiac safe and b.) what was actually available on Sunday (their website only had their regular Menu but come to find out on Sunday they only have their brunch menu available and at 2:30 they had sold out of multiple things). We ordered BBQ fried chicken (celiac safe, delish), fried green tomatoes (celiac safe, very bland), seeet potato hash (celiac safe, good), cherry grits (celiac safe, liked by those that could have dairy), fried chicken club (NOT celiac safe, good), Belgian waffle (NOT celiac safe, good), marble pound cake (celiac safe, good), peach cobbler (celiac Safe and vegan, good but I realized I’m not a cobbler fan). Where they could have done better with our take out order- not forgotten a side of grits and given us maple syrup for the waffles (both could have been prevented if my hubby had checked the order like I asked him to). Alas, I would go back and try to eat there so my food was hot not cold as take out.
Digestive issues after going here. Used my Nima sensor and gluten was found. Please know that sadly the food here may be cross contaminated regularly.
Amazingg. I felt very comfortable and confident in their handling of my food. The staff was kind and welcoming
I was assured that gluten free food was prepped separately and they took great care in doing this. I was able to order almost everything on the menu including fried bbq chicken and the gries! Grit fries. Yes. You have to try them.
The food was delicious, best meal I had in LA. I appreciate the dedication and safety in preparing my food and will be back!
Lots of GF, Veg and Vegan options. I got the GF/ Vegan peach cobbler plus the BBQ fried chicken salad. Yum!
Super amazing soul food with lots of gluten free options. I got the fried chicken Caesar salad and it was delicious. It's not quite the same crunch on the breading as real gluten of course but it was excellent and served with a tasty BBQ sauce.
They have pretty good prices and a few GF dessert choices too.
Also vegan/ dairy free friendly! Definitely recommend if you're in the area.
BEST GF fried chicken. BEST GF mac and cheese. BEST GF shrimp and grits. ALL sides are GF AND super delicious. If I lived much closer to this place I would weigh 500 pounds. This place is just too good to be missed, and you deserve to treat yourself! (And MTC most certainly deserves lots and lots of business, and some big fat tips for offering GF soul food so right!)
This place is seriously good. Best grits, BBQ chicken, sweet potato hash, and a bunch more GF menu items. Desserts are killer good. You deserve to eat this well. Cheers.
Best GF fried chicken and catfish ever!!! The dirty red rice is also delicious. I haven’t mac and cheese this good since before I was diagnosed with celiacs, and it’s gf. This is the most amazing place ever!!! Staff is knowledgeable and the food is absolutely delicious!!!
This place is sooooo good. I have gluten and dairy issues. I had the gluten free BBQ fried chicken, market veggies, dirty rice and peach cobbler. I order a second meal to go it was so delicious.
The one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at since finding out I have Celiac Disease
Very good. The chicken looks amazing, but was missing the crunch. The elements have the making for something great, but was slightly on the bland side.
Most items on the menu are labeled gluten free. Even some of their desserts are gluten free!
Great great food, all the sides are gf as well. They understood celiac and had a separate procedure for cooking the food.
The food was fairly good, however none of the sides that come with the meals are marked on the menu as being GF. The employee at the counter told me that only the items marked as GF are GF. Since none of the sides were marked as GF, I did not feel comfortable eating the sides that come with the fried chicken that I ordered.
I would have give 5 stars if the menu had indicated which, if any, of the side items are GF.
We drove an hour each way to come here because I can't eat gluten and have been craving fried chicken. The gluten free fried chicken is amazing and the gluten free mac n cheese is one of the best I have ever had...even when I could eat gluten. I had the greens and the sweet potato crumble and those were yummy as well. Hubby had the meatloaf burger not gf and said it was awesome. The desserts look amazing. They have 2 gluten free desserts and we opted for the gluten free vegan cobbler. It was decent. We will definately be back.
Gluten free soul food? You got it. They actually have a GF fried chix sandwich. Haven't seen that on a menu before. Many sides are GF as is the Mac n Cheese. There are good options in the menu and if you tell them you have Celiac the chef said she would fry things separately - though since her batter is GF I'm not sure what would be in the fryer typically that would cross contaminate. Nonetheless, her mentioning this gave me comfort she was hip to the needs of a Celiac In search of some local, organic, GF soul food. An unsuspecting gem of a restaurant - owner operator, cozy, neighborhood spot worth supporting.
