I’ve gotten sick here a few times but given all the great reviews, I thought maybe I was sensitive to other ingredients. The first time I went, they shared the fried items were celiac safe but the next visit, they said that the fryer was shared which made them unsafe. The second time, I stuck to unfried things and still didn’t feel well after. Today, I stuck with salad and fried rice to be even safer. After eating a few bites, I found a lot of noodles blended into the rice. Upon raising this to the host’s attention, he shared that they were wheat noodles and he’d have it remade. As a celiac, I was really discouraged which the lack of understanding of how severe this is and am very sick now. I feel so silly for going back so many times.

Have ordered both over the phone and eaten in person. Super knowledgeable staff, and they can make almost anything GF for you. I’ve eaten here many times and never once gotten sick. Everything is literally made to order so you know care is going into your food!

i LOVE new moon and especially this location in san marino!!! they are able to make nearly every dish on the menu gf and the server was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. even some of the fried foods are gf because they fry with cornstarch and not bread crumbs. they also have ponzu instead of soy sauce. the server marked up a take out menu for me to take home so that i could order more easily in the future.
the san marino location is perfect and i visit so often with no reactions. the la canada m/montrose location however, i do not have the same experience. the servers are less knowledgeable there and for some reason the food is more expensive there even though it is the same menu but in a different format

Tried this today for the first time and everything was excellent. I called and ordered four dishes and person on the phone said they could make 90% of the dishes on the menu gluten free. Everything I wanted was gluten free. The food was ready when I got there and there was so much food. It was piping hot when I got home and I lived 20 minutes away. I did not get sick and I cannot wait to go back. I am very sensitive to getting glutened. I think the trick is to be very clear that you need everything to be gluten free when you place your order. The black bean fillet of sole was the best dish. We also had gf chow fun. The beef and broccoli was very addictive and their rice was perfect.

Super friendly server. She accomodated my request for gluten-free meals. And gave me a menu that she personally marked up before I left for future gf meals. Here’s a sampling: Appetizer: wallys grilled shrimp (gf) Salads: the original New Moon chicken salad (request with out wontons to be gf) Honey glazed chicken w/orange zest (change to white meat only) All beef dishes can be made gf if requested. All vegetable dishes can be made gf if requested. Chow Fun dish w/no pork can be gf Fried rice w/no pork can be gf.

Every dish can be made GF.
Separate fryers and cooking areas.
Food was so amazing we thought they may have gluten but didn’t.
Receipt tagged every item we ordered as GF.
We have eaten here at least dozen times including takeout and both wife and daughter are celiacs and never had a contamination issue.

While the service was excellent, and the food very tasty, I encountered some form of contamination or cross-contamination as I became very unwell by the end of my meal. I was so disappointed.

I called to order pickup, and the person who took my order was very helpful. True, there's no official gf menu, but she pointed me in the right direction and let me know she has a celiac friend (which is always encouraging!).

Viewed paper menus, viewed digital menus, and called - they do not have any GF menu items and will not make any GF. The staff was not knowledgeable and obviously for these reasons it is not safe. Please note the date: this review is from June 2021.

The food is fantastic and there are many gluten free options. Smaller than the same restaurant in Montrose with a few less options. No dine in during the pandemic, but there are a couple of tables out front you can sit on to eat your take out.

Great food, celiac approved. About half of the menu can be made GF, and it's all amazing. Eaten here dozens of times with no reaction!

Great Chinese food. The restaurant can make gluten free items and are very aware of gluten sensitivities / celiac. I am celiac and eat here all the time, never get sick.
