They have gluten free rice noodles so I usually get the pad see-ew or pad kee mao with tofu. They don’t have gf soy sauce and the last couple of times I’ve been there I’ve forgotten to bring my own so it was a little bland. I am also vegetarian and didn’t realize there was fish sauce so the last time I ate there, I basically had noodles with vegetables and no sauce. I think it would be amazing if I brought my own soy sauce but I keep forgetting.
This past time I went there, I ordered pad see-ew without sauce lol and asked them if they could prepare it safely gluten free and the waiter said yes. I told him the rundown that I tell everyone when eating out and repeated it a few times. The waiter shook his head up and down, but he seemed to be in a hurry. I usually tell the waiter to use a clean pan, clean utensils, clean gloves, etc. and they are good about it but I don’t think the waiter passed all of the info along to the cook. The woman at the front seems to be very knowledgeable about gluten free and celiac so I think I just had a unfortunate experience with the waiter. My partner and I had tickets to a movie at San Mateo century theater (across from this restaurant) but unfortunately, I was in the bathroom for the first 20 minutes of the movie. I am willing to give this place another try if I can speak to someone who is more knowledgeable on gluten safety.
