Review

We are visiting the Blue Ridge, Georgia area for several weeks and have been on the lookout for Gluten Free, Celiac Safe restaurants in the area. My husband came across this little gem of a place while out driving around to find a fishing spot.

In our research the night before, we saw that they provided gluten free options for both breakfast and lunch which they serve both all day and decided to give it a try.

For Celiacs, they have a shared kitchen but everything is made in front of you. At the time of our visit, the owner mentioned that they do not have a dedicated waffle maker or griddle for their gluten free options BUT may consider adding them prevent cross contamination and give Celiacs a very safe eating environment. The owner (who is just so friendly and accommodating) even brought the spices she uses to me to ensure that they were gluten free and safe for me to consume. She went above and beyond to make sure my experience was safe. Clean surface, clean gloves etc. (We hope to return to this area and if they get the dedicated equipment, I will gladly return to get a delicious, gluten free Belgian waffle.)

I had the fruit cup and cold veggies sandwich (gluten free bun, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomato and Italian seasoning.). The owner offered to clean all of the surfaces to prevent contamination to grill my sandwich but I asked for it not grilled just to make sure.

My husband and daughter enjoyed their food so much that my husband ordered a sandwich to go to enjoy later.

If you are out and about, you can also order a lunch box to go to enjoy while fishing or hiking and the owner mentioned that they can make it gluten free. They also have gluten free chips and some great local gifts, honey and other goodies in the shop.

Celiacs know that eating out sometimes can be filled with anxiety and the overall feeling that we are asking a ton of questions just to enjoy a little bit of normalcy. The Nomad Market was incredibly accommodating, warm and inviting and we will be sure to visit again during our stay here.
