We’ve had a different experience than others. We’ve been twice as a family. My daughter is celiac and wife is sensitive and both were able to find multiple great things on the menu. The waiter was knowledgeable. No one got sick. It may depend on who’s working, but our waiter was intentionally making sure everything was safe for us and we were appreciative. We will be back.
I was so excited to try Northern Soul because of all the gluten free options… I was quickly disappointed when I asked the server if the fries were fried in separate oil than the flour coated items. Unfortunately, everything is fried in the same oil. I think it’s pretty messed up that this restaurant advertises to be gluten free and doesn’t take simple precautions to make sure people don’t get sick.
Quite a few items advertised as GF, yet I got a reaction.
I had a Gluten Free beer, and what they claimed were gluten free fries. Unsure which one did it for me, but absolutely not GF in my experience. Would love to be proved wrong but so far that’s my experience.
Got the wings plain and side of potatoes which were tasty but very oily. Have a GF ice cream sandwich dessert that is marked GF and calls out that the ice cream is dairy free. So you would assume the desert should be dairy free as a whole? Nope. The GF cookies of the sandwich have dairy which is just dumb. Went back and forth with the owner who was super rude.
We went here based on the reviews and hoping for a safe dinner experience. And we were especially excited because this is very close to where I live. However, as soon as I spoke with our server about my celiac, she immediately told me that they do not have a safe environment. There is a shared fryer, a shared oven space, and generally speaking cross-contamination is a major concern. After several iterations, she finally got back to me saying that I could eat the gluten-free pasta special of the night, with a couple of minor adjustments. Also, I had to actually instruct them to use fresh water for boiling the pasta. In the end, it was disappointing. I would not recommend this place as a safe space for those with celiac.
There’s always a gluten free flatbread on special which is nice! Definitely not typical bar food - you can get real meat or fish with the choice of so many different types of veggies . Highly rec
