Notorious Burgers

NIMA TESTED UNSAFE This place is absolutely not safe for anyone with Celiac. I went based on all the good reviews, but the server was very upfront with how unsafe their “small kitchen” is. After talking with her and the kitchen staff I felt ok ordering a very plain salad with steak, but my Nima found gluten. On the plus side, they were very nice about it and comped my meal.

Delicious! I have celiac and explained to the server up front. He (Joseph) was knowledgeable and told me the house dressing contains soy sauce and their blue cheese has gluten (bummer!) He suggested a substitution for pepper jack cheese which complimented the burger nicely. They prepared my meal separately and the GF bun was tasty. As others have mentioned, they do not have a dedicated fryer (onion rings are battered with gluten and fried with French fries). I ordered a side salad with balsamic. Overall, great service, yummy meal, and no tummy symptoms the next day. Highly recommend.

We recently found this Carlsbad gem and have been so happy about it. They are knowledgeable about celiac, have gluten free buns, and are very friendly.

Good burgers and definitely gluten friendly. They don't have gluten free items designated on anything but the build your burger menu. Also, their fries are cooked in same fryer as everything else so can't have those either. Wish they'd expand their gluten free menu to some of their specialty non-burger items. If you're in the mood for a burger, this is a good place.

So glad I finally tried this place. The gf buns are great! I had the quinoa burger and notorious fries. Both were delicious!

FYI, to the reviewer who says the quinoa burger isn't GF, I asked specifically if the quinoa burger was gluten free before I ordered it & even asked them to double check with the chef since veggie burgers are usually questionable. It is GF. Also, it is now listed on the menu as a gluten free item. So it seems as though it is still gluten free. I do appreciate that they now mark GF items on the menu.

Really love the breads here and the pie crust is bomb!
