Symptomatic Celiac

I went in to grab a bowl of soup since I figured that would be the safest option because of the varying reviews on here. I asked if the soup was gluten free (even though it was clearly marked GF on the menu….just to be safe). The workers told me it probably had gluten in it but they had plenty of other gluten free options…. I passed because it doesn’t seem safe to me.

Spoke to the manager. They prep food for the line in a way that is strict to avoid gluten cc BUT the line that actually puts together and finalizes the meals (the main kitchen you see) I was told has bread/gluten products everywhere. The grill is cross contaminated by all of their toast and buns and they do NOT have a separate grill for GF. This place would be awesome as a GF sensitive person however as a symptomatic celiac, I opted for just a smoothie.

Are delicious breakfast sandwiches on gluten free bun. Great service, very careful, ate a cute outdoor sidewalk table section. Would go again.

I’ve eaten in twice and gotten takeout several times, and have never had a problem. The food is tasty, fairly healthy, and prices seem to be in the reasonable range for stuff like that.

Delicious chicken Caesar wrap with a GF wrap! All dressings are GF at NuKitchen which is fantastic. The menu clearly shows which menu items are GF or which ones you can swap bread / wrap choice. The berry smoothie is also so yummy. Love it here!

Delicious fresh food and wonderful dining atmosphere for casual lunch on a hot summer day. Amazing chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with sea salt. Caution it’s the start of the season so some new staff. While taking my order the guy was new with the register and in his focus on the machine I don’t think he heard me say Gluten Free bread for celiac. When the order came my daughter luckily knew it didn’t look right. The server also knew right away when we questioned if the bread was gluten free. They quickly took it away and went to the kitchen to ensure the order was made safely. Delicious pesto chicken sandwich. And the gluten free bread was crumbly (which my daughter said made her feel relieved) but it was extremely tasty. A pleasant meal and gem of a place to have in Newburyport.o

Acai bowls did not have the gluten free symbol on menu. I asked the cashier if they were gluten free and she said yes so I ordered one and mentioned I have severe celiac. It was not gluten free. I got sick. I called later and turns out one of the toppings had gluten.

Great atmosphere and great food, got a southwest BLT and it was so so good. The waiter was very confident and marked my order as severe GF! Tons of options, most of which can be made gluten free

Been there twice so far...staff is very knowledgeable and there are SO many GF options. Best gluten free chocolate chip cookie that I have ever had too :) I am a very sensitive celiac and have not gotten sick either time.

My daughter and I are gluten free (she is celiac) and NU Kitchen is our new go to spot in our town of Newburyport. Great baked good such as blueberry scones and chocolate cookies to salads, soups, sandwiches and bowls. They recently upgraded to a larger GF bread so sandwiches are now normal size (my only previous complaint). They have separate GF toaster and area. So nice to have healthy and safe GF options at reasonable prices and a nice environment. The staff is warm and welcoming too. Highly recommend!

I was blown away by the GF options and care taken at NU Kitchen in Newburyport. As someone who was recently diagnosed with celiac, I have found that many restaurants are not accommodating. NU Kitchen is definitely an exception and provided an abundance of GF options and worked diligently to avoid cross contamination without compromising taste or experience. The servers were extremely polite, understanding, and helpful. I HIGHLY recommend if you're ever in the area (or near their Worcester or Somerville locations).

I ordered breakfast, tofu scramble and the experience was so great that I went back for lunch to get a tofu power bowl and the service was great.

This place was great with so many options. They marked my allergy to ensure no cross-contamination. I got a bowl and a smoothie but they also have gf chocolate chip cookies, scones, burgers and salads. Also many vegan options if that is your thing and one person in our group had a tree nut allergy and they happily marked and accommodated that as well.
