❌❌❌ Ocean Blue takeaway at Gorokan…Celiacs and gluten sensitivity beware….Drove past the other night and saw sign on window “gluten free” so we stopped for dinner…before ordering I confirmed if I was to order and what I wanted to order could be done gluten free without intentional contamination and was guaranteed it was ok…while waiting for order I observed young girl start to make my order on one bench and she was told she needed to move bench as she was on gluten containing food bench. Foil was put under bread on grill then said foil was used to wrap burger after burger was made it was put below grill and Kelly again told the young girl gluten free doesn’t go there and she moved it…after gluten free was made young girl took gluten containing wraps out of bag and put bag on bench where gluten free was made I said to young girl “ if this is your gluten free station you shouldn’t put that bag there”… she replied “I’m finished making gluten free food for today”…then I observed her put gluten containing wraps on same hot plate as gluten free burger was cooked on…I asked “do you normally do that, cook gluten and gluten free on same hot plate”…and it was explained to me that yes it is, that’s how they do gluten free…another lady in shop and I both tried to tell them it is not gluten free then, there would be so much cross contamination…well this caused Kelly to start screaming at the lady and I…she went on that she was a qualified head chef so she knows what she’s doing…and regardless if gluten containing food and gluten free were cooked on same hot plate/grill it is still gluten free and safe for a celiac, I tried to tell her you can’t do that it is not safe Kelly went on to scream that she knows what she is doing as she is a qualified head chef and it doesn’t matter anyway as “cooking food kills gluten” both the other lady and I said no it does not, Kelly screamed more…She went on saying many celiacs go to their shop and are regular returning customers and not one person has ever been sick from eating gluten free food from their shop…after much back and forth Kelly said she agreed with us that the claim that the food is gluten free is false however it’s not her shop and she had tried to tell owner so I need to speak to him…today I spoke to the owner Mark.. from the beginning Mark was hostile, he also spoke very poorly to a paying customer…he was going on and saying that the shop Ocean Blue takeaway is accredited with Celiac Society so they know what they are doing and I am just crazy…I said I didn’t believe that as there is no way Celiac Australia would give this shop or any shop Gluten Free recommendations if they cook food containing gluten and gluten free on same surfaces and sell it as “gluten free”…Mark also kept saying that many celiacs eat from his shop and are regular returning customers and not one person has ever gotten sick and he knows that for a fact…he also kept saying they have been doing gluten free options for 7-8 years and have never had any issues whatsoever till now, many many celiacs eat from there even a very sensitive young girl…for two ppl who think they are very smart and both know everything and they are right and no one has gotten sick from their food, regardless if anyone gets physically sick from the food Mrs qualified head chef and Mr owner no alls what about all the damage being done to a celiac’s insides/villi from all that gluten on the food from the hot plate/grill, do you know for a fact about that Mr Owner… and not to mention one being a head chef who believes you can cook away gluten (I would be embarrassed if these words came out of my mouth if I were a qualified chef 👩🍳)the whole time speaking to him he was rude, he did not care that his staff screamed at customers and he claimed that apparently I was the one doing the screaming, I said really…he said yes and he would get his wife to download footage from cameras and he and Kelly would watch it together, I said yes I would be very interested in seeing it, he took my number…I told him I find it crazy that your staff scream at customers and you as the owner and the way he is talking to customers as well is rude…they speak badly to you if you question them as they know everything, I told Mark this is wrong and they cannot put the claim “gluten free”…and I would be taking this further, he encouraged me to do that and go on socials so here it is…I went on their page but all I saw was posts saying shop closed today for whatever reason multiple times…Have emailed Celiac Australia and awaiting reply….CELIACS and gluten sensitivity please do NOT eat from this shop…
It’s been a while now but from my knowledge they no longer do gf due to a complaint .. We never had an issue with their food and they had a seperate prep area and friers .. Last time I checked..a couple years ago now.. they only did preordering of gf chickens..but I’m not sure if this is still the case
They have grilled fish, chips etc available. Very knowledgeable

They have a dedicated gluten free fryer! They are extremely accommodating for gluten free. Highly recommend calling 30minutes ahead so they can make sure to turn the fryer on
