Overpriced and the steak was too chewy but still good.

We ate here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. I got the mushroom and spinach omelette with hollandaise sauce and potatoes. I also got the yogurt and granola to really fill up for the day. Everything was delicious.

Came for breakfast. There might not be a specific gluten-free menu, but this is a very allergy-conscious restaurant. Offered my daughter gluten-free bread in replacement of the biscuit (The Statesman breakfast), and also marked her plate with an “allergy” marker.

The host and staff were very knowledgeable. While they did not have a separate menu, they have options, and the servers knew celiac. Further, they asked if there were food allergies that they needed to know. They do have a dedicated frier for "frites," chicken wings, etc. In addition, I asked about the ketchup bottle and if they refilled it. The server quickly answered that once the Heinz bottle was empty it was discarded. Food was delivered with a marker for "allergy" and handled separate from others at the table.
The food was very good. Menu options are limited, but they have dessert options.

In town for the weekend and needed a gf/vegetarian and kid friendly place with nice menu and bar for adults. This fit the bill perfectly. Host actually has celiac so gave us the lowdown on the menu, including safe things not noted on menu, and server was very knowledgeable and accommodating. All fries are gf and variety of gf pastas are made in-house. Gf peanut butter and chocolate pie was delicious. Dishes prepared with any allergy in mind came out separately and labeled. Food was excellent.

This was an excellent spot for dinner. Our server was very knowledgeable and aware of gluten, my food was labeled as an allergy, and I’m still dreaming about the crème brûlée. I had the steak salad and loved every bite.

Had the lobster roll with fruit. The lobster was fresh and the bun was nice and toasted. The server suggested the peanut butter pie - it was amazing!

Went here bc we heard they were good with allergies - I have gluten, dairy and soy allergies which make it hard to eat out most places. Our server Nate was excellent, making sure my meal was safe and making modifications as needed. They have a dedicated GF frier and don’t use soybean oil so the French fries were safe for me (very unusual!) Our meals were so good we came back a second time during our vacation. Steak salad (no cheese and lemon vinaigrette instead of the normal dressing) was delicious, as was the hummus with veggies instead of pita. Highly recommend for allergy awareness.

Great experience, good food, and I didn’t get sick! Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about food allergies and informed me that kitchen staff does all they can to avoid cross contamination. I had the pimento bacon burger w/gf bun, fries, and elote w/tortilla chips.

Had a great meal. My sandwich was delivered with an allergen flag and the server noted it was the gluten free bun. It was delicious. Menu items were called out as well.

Fantastic service even at the bar! Scott was our bartender and both husband and I are celiac. He got steak salad medium rare with bacon and blue cheese. I got steak and eggs with side of sautéed potato halves and it came with a side of dark brown gravy sauce. I have additional spice allergies (cumin, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon) so gave them my card for those and the meal was delicious! Also drank ciders from bottle they were good, and ordered espresso martinis for finish. Lovely experience, no one got sick yesterday or today. And menus is labeled with little GF signs next to each dish. My food came out with a little wooden stick labeled ‘allergy’ sticking out of my steak. Seperate chef or waiter brought my food out by hand to make sure the right food got to the right person and wasn’t misplaced in translation. I’d recommend when you order, if you are celiac, you just say you have a gluten allergy.

Really happy with this restaurant- ambience, service, menu. Was our favorite all around while in DC. They definitely knew cc and celiac. I didn’t know bread would come automatically so had to request some gf bread after the regular came and it took a bit so I’d recommend asking for that when you order drinks so it comes out at the right time. Dedicated fryer, my daughter had steak and fries and really enjoyed.

Recently came here for an anniversary dinner and we really loved it. Very cool historic atmosphere, even still use real gas lamps. I told our waiter about my allergy and he was very understanding, even ran back to the kitchen to ask the chef questions for me. They put a little allergy toothpick in your food too so you know they were aware of it in the kitchen. We got the Elote Loco corn dip as an appetizer and it was amazing. Got the salmon as an entree and it was okay flavor-wise but I didn’t get sick from anything! Would definitely come back, especially because it’s in a great location.

Very busy restaurant. Staff seemed knowledgable. Manager took my order and delivered the food himself. I ordered hanger steak and steamed broccoli. I'd was delicious!

I was very impressed with the staff and their knowledge of allergies, but unfortunately found a full sized crouton hiding in my salad :(

Great bread!! Had a wonderful sandwich. Those are hard to find. The bread had body and texture but was soft to eat. Didn’t fall apart.
Excellent service and lots of menu choices. Really enjoyed my meal here.
Our Server explained they care about allergies and ensured what I was eating was safe

Fantastic service, great food. Make sure you make reservations because they are always packed! Very accommodating for Celiacs!

Old school restaurant. Nothing marked GF but they accommodate accordingly. Was pretty good.
GF knowledgeable, separate toasters and options. Solid place for Celiacs
Yes
Lots of options marked “gluten friendly”. They stress they are not a gf facility so they cannot guarantee no cc but the staff was very knowledgeable and reassuring. Excellent desserts as well.
Yes
Got the salmon. Staff took care of me! I have celiac

So great! The staff was knowledgeable and the safe menu was huge! We were even able to have a slice of Pb pie bc the crust was made out of crushed peanuts and chocolate chips!
Yes
Their menu clearly points out the gluten free options available which are quite a few. The waiter was versed in the cross contamination issue and suggested a few options for my wife. She got a really good fish and was not sick at all afterwards. This a great place that is part of DC history and was glad to be able to enjoy it.
Yes
My son loved the gf mac and cheese. Helpful staff with more knowledge than The Hamilton
The food was okay. The server did check with the chef to see if the option I wanted could be made GF. The breakfast potatoes were amazing! But the ham was salty. Overall it was an okay breakfast. I would give it high makes for the ambiance but it was defiantly not GF friendly.
No
Very difficult to order as they run off to the kitchen and ask if it can be done GF and then come out and tell you no it's not possible. This is especially distressing for celiac kids as you feel like you are an inconvenience. It would be far better to indicate which items could possibly be offered GF
No
Great experience! The waiter was knowledgeable and checked with the chef before placing my order. I ordered hanger steak, but got fries (dedicated fryer) instead of potato fritters. It was awesome! My nonGF husband loved the shrimp and grits (ranked in his top 3). Everything was awesome...not to mention this is a pretty historic place!
Yes
Make reservations! popular place. Nothing marked gf, BUT they will customize anything for you. our server was fantastic. food was delicious.

I made a reservation online and under comments I stated one person in my party had celiac diease and could not eat gluten. when arriving to resturant the wait or was aware. He told us what menu items could and couldn't be made gluten free. when my son made up his mind he talked to the chief and clearly stated how they were modifying his dinner. His dinner came out separate. His dinner was wonderful. All of our dinners were wonderful. Will eat here again.
A DC classic. The waiter knew mostly what could be GF but verified with the chef. The manager delivered the food for the allergy. Said they had GF pasta but had the salmon. Make a reservation, it's popular. Awesome old time atmosphere at the bar and main dining.
Yes
Staff was knowledgeable, but the greeters/hosts have serious "I am so beautiful" attitude. The food was good. I are the "Healthy Plate". It's now 5 hours later and I have a mild issue but that might be from a problem yesterday from elsewhere. I would try it again.
Very limited gluten free items. No pancakes as mentioned on the find me gluten free. The meal I was limited to I could get for free at our hotel.
