Went here for my birthday dinner. I’m celiac and my daughter has a severe peanut allergy. The staff was very knowledgeable and put together an amazing 3 course dinner for our group with wine pairings for the adults. No peanuts were used anywhere in the restaurant so my daughter could feel safe eating everything. We started with some delicious cocktails made from local Icelandic liquors. Many were gluten free, even more were distilled so if you feel good with those you’ll have many more options. They had table bread that was maybe the best bread I’ve ever eaten with whipped butter and blueberry salt. We started with cured salmon appetizer with caviar and house pickles. Only modification for mine was no rye bread with the caviar. I ate mine with the gf bread they gave me and it was amazing. Second course was cod with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. The sauces were beautifully flavored, subtle and well executed. Finally, desert was a brownie which I couldn’t have so they made me a strawberry gelato with a cream sauce and fresh sliced strawberries which was to die for. Finished the meal with some gluten free rhubarb liquor. Absolutely wonderful. The service was kind and hospitable, taking care of all our needs. Note: this is a very small restaurant so you will definitely need a reservation, especially if you have more than 2 people with you.
Lovely, cozy and welcoming restaurant. Clearly marked GF items on menu. Staff very knowledgeable about GF needs. I had the cod and garlic mashed potatoes - so good. Husband had the lamb, which also was GF. They brought out gf bread also, which was a surprise, and delicious! Highly recommend this place. Only thing I wished for was a gf option for dessert beyond ice cream.
The waiter knew gluten free courses by heart. I had Tinder cheese for the starters and lamb ribeye for the main course. Got warm gluten free bread. No gluten free desserts (they work on it, I sure hope that’s true) but the food was so delicious that didn’t missed it really.
Probably the best food I have ever had. Gourmet food, yummy drinks, and incredible service. The kitchen made a special dessert just for me and the most incredible chef that came out of the kitchen to tell me about my dish. He shared what he had done to make it safe and I am beyond happy. A must stop.
This place is a small gem, I have a feeling if we didn’t go as early as we did we would’ve definitely needed a reservation! The menu shows GF dishes and the chef was checked with for things we had questions on. When the food came out, it looked as if an artist plated and prepared it. It was so beautiful and some of the most delicious food we’ve ever had. All of Iceland is expensive! So what? Treat yourself! It’s an amazing country and very knowledgeable about gluten free and Celiac and we didn’t get sick one time!
Food was fabulous all clearly marked gluten free, staff were great and advised me that they would adapt a dessert to make it gluten free.
Cozy little restaurant with clearly marked options and lots to choose from! Delicious and well prepared. Staff was knowledgeable about GF issues and made sure the special of the day that I got was GF. Great meal in a great environment. I had the mushroom soup as a starter and it was glorious. Definitely have dinner here!
When walking in I mentioned that I have celiac and the waitress immediately reassured me by knowing what that meant and pointed out the gluten free labeled items on the menu. I ordered the creamy shellfish soup and the roasted lamb with parsnips and potatoes. When ordering I asked about noting gluten free on the ticket for the kitchen and she did and said she would speak with the kitchen also. Before receiving the meal the waitress even brought out some gluten free bread! Overall the meal was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend the soup!
So delicious! The menu has several gf items, clearly labeled. I had the mushroom soup (which the server told me had trace amounts of gluten - ok for me, personally). I also had the cod entree served with a potato purée and parsnips. Divine! Partner had the lamb dish which was also gf - very tender meat with a delicious sauce.
I was served a separate portion of gf bread - little chunks of a seeded brownish bread served with my own butter. Warm and hearty.
The drink menu had some interesting Icelandic cocktails - quite strong! I had the one with the rhubarb syrup. Sweet and tart at the same time.
Amazing service, staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Gluten free foods are marked clearly on the menu. I mentioned I was gluten free before they brought the free bread out and they heated up a few pieces of gluten free bread just for me and it was some of the best gluten free bread I’ve had. I had the lamb and it was delicious.
Honestly, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. GF items were denoted on the menu and it was amazing. A little pricey but so worth it.
