Old Post Office Restaurant & Bar

This place has been renamed Vintage Bar and Bistro. We came here on a very busy night (we waited an hour for our meals) and my coeliac daughter ordered a chicken burger. The bun was rock hard and unpleasant to eat but the burger fillings were good and the chips were apparently cooked in a separate fryer. Unfortunately she was ill within a couple of hours, it was her typical reaction to being glutened. We felt like the restaurant was so busy they may not have used due care when preparing the food, despite me asking the waiter to let the chef know the meal was for a coeliac.

New management now named The Vintage bar and bistro. Our daughter who is coeliac had the fish in chips. Fish was unbattered and fresh and was advised chips were cooked in separate fryer. Our daughter enjoyed the meal. My partner and I had non gluten free meals which were excellent as well.

Great service and food. Lots of gluten free options and staff are super knowledgeable. They have a dedicated gluten free fryer and preparation space. One of the only places in Hanmer I would consider safe for people with Coeliac disease

Fantastic service. Felt very safe. Procedures explained on how they manage allergies. I'd eat there daily. Reasonable price, very good sized meal. Excellent value for money

Service was excellent. Our waiter was very accommodating in making various changes and conferring with the chefs. They had procedures to follow for coeliac meals.

Tried this place on the off chance and so happy to find the owner was very knowledgeable and took great care with our meals. Took orders himself to ensure no issues. Food was so delicious! Dedicated fryer. 100% recommend.
