Went here based off of this app and am so happy I did! The owner is such a lovely woman who is gluten free. I had the pesto chicken with pasta. It was amazing and easily 3 meals! Also many desserts to choose from. Highly recommend!
Fantastic gluten free Italian option. Owner is celiac. Dedicated GF Menu. Never been disappointed here. Amazing authentic Italian food.
Very happy with GF menu and staff. My first time at Olivia made a great impression and plan to visit again to try more of their gf. Really liked everything very much. Didn’t eat fried food only had pasta it wasn’t over cooked and was cooked in dedicated water yet very flavorful. Staff was friendly and very happy to serve gf from dedicated menu all was great for a reasonable price. Very thankful to be able to visit such a wonderful establishment. Will defiantly be going back.
Great food, extensive GF menu, great service.
Saw all of the positive reviews and happened to be in the area for lunch. Glad my husband and I had the chance to try out Oliva.
The staff was warm, welcoming and attentive. Most importantly though, they’re well versed in cross contamination and happily accommodating. I ordered the salmon piccata and the server, Jonathan, immediately informed me mine would take a little longer to prepare because they would need to boil the pasta in a fresh pot of water. So nice not to have to ask about that. Plus, it states on the menu that “Cynthia” has been gluten free for years (the owner?)
The salmon, sauce and pasta were all very good and I had a Caesar salad (no croutons), which was also very good. My husband had the lasagna (gluten style) and loved it too.
I’m including pics of their menu, please see the dessert section. I was too full to try one, but will certainly indulge the next time we’re there, as we’re definitely returning!
My experience was above expectation,I have noticed a lot of team work between servers.oliva Italian eatery has a good reputation in this town.
I mentioned about my allergies to my waitress.i have to wait a bit longer but it was worth it.
I had gluten free salmon piccata every bit of it was delicious and fabulous.its a family own place so just feel free to speak about your request.
This place was recommended by my very close friends who loved the food but weren’t gf. What’s sad is that after telling the waitress multiple times that I had a severe allergy to gluten and needs the dish to be dairy free. She agreed. But she didn’t seem to take it seriously. The food took an hour firstly and the person who got it out wasn’t sure if it was gf. After checking with the manager she said it was gf and but wasn’t dairy free. The waitress didn’t know it wasn’t dairy free and assured us that it was. Sad part was i had a baby in the NICU that had to be dairy free for reasons. And the way it all went down I’m sure the food wasn’t gf either. I was sick that night. And it was our first dinner out since having a baby. What a disaster
Ordered over the phone for pick up, specified allergy and that I was ordering from the gluten free menu. Manager was not very knowledgeable about gf options or menu, asked for assistance. Confirmed again at pick up that it was all gluten free and the waiter pulled the bread roll out and then assured it was gluten free.
Tested with NIMA;
gf spaghetti alla vodka with ground sausage - safe
Gf meatloaf with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies - positive for gluten.
Called to let them know it tested positive.
I’ve eaten here on and off for years but I’ve seen a stark decline in knowledge about gluten sensitivities at this establishment and elote. It’s very upsetting as they were started by those with Celiac. It’s not safe to eat here if the staff are not trained in it anymore, do better.
Edited to add: I have eaten here for years and always loved it. However, the quality has gone way down lately and last time I got SO SO sick. I’m so disappointed.
I haven't had a good Italian meal in years... until just now!! My only regret is not knowing about this place sooner! The owner is celiac and the staff is knowledgeable. They alerted the kitchen about me immediately. The food was AMAZING! This kitchen knows how to cook gluten free pasta! *cue the singing angels*
Another thing I loved (unrelated to gluten) was the obvious attention to detail. I usually pick my food to pieces before it enters my mouth because there are gross bits of chicken that freak me out. (Yes I'm a little crazy, but that's not the point.) I didn't do that here because they had already done it! Everything on my plate was beautiful and perfect!
Thank you Oliva!!
Delicious is all I can simply say, I have never had such a variety, and amazing options for gluten free Italian food. The service is amazing, meals amazing, and the gluten free desert delectable. I have nothing negative to say of this place! 10/10 for me.
the staff was super friendly but afterwards i had felt very sick, like i had ate gluten. my friend and i went together, afterwards she tested it with her nima and turns out there was gluten in our “gluten free” spaghetti.
The atmosphere, staff, and food were incredible. Our table ordered the house salad, Chicken Oliva, Chicken Parm, and Seafood Oliva. Every dish tasted fresh and delicious. The portions are generous. Even my 6'2" 16-year-old son brought some food home. They even have gluten free desserts, which were also delicious!
We went to celebrate my daughter’s 14th birthday. She was recently diagnosed with a gluten intolerance. The food was fantastic. She had so many gluten free options to choose from including several desserts. Our waiter immediately informed us that they were putting on a fresh pot of water for her pasta so they there would be no cross contamination. Our food was delicious as well. We are hoping they will add gluten free lobster ravioli to their menu ( as this is her favorite dish). The service was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
I got lasagna and was so happy with it. It was a little soupy and extremely hot, but honestly, it was really great. I felt really confident in it being gluten free. I wish I'd gotten to try a dessert, but I was a little pressed for time. The waiter was so friendly and helpful, and took care to note that I was gluten free for a reason. I wouldn't be mad about going back!
This restaurant is owned by someone with Celiac, so they are on top of it here! The wait-staff is very knowledgeable and knows all of the alterations that need to be made. Wonderful service and online ordering for takeout is a breeze. Check out their sister restaurant Elote, too!
I spoke to the owner who said she had Celiac disease herself. She said they use fresh cold water for each batch of GF pasta, cooked to order. Everything we ordered, GF and otherwise, was delicious.
Excellent food! They are very strict about their gluten; owner has celiac. Super friendly staff in a quaint casual atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We tried out Oliva Italian Eatery for the first time this weekend. We have eaten across the street at its (Mexican) Sister restaurant elote for years and we love it. Thought we'd try something new and go for some GF Italian on Saturday. The GF pasta was cooked to perfection. Not mushy. Not stuck together. Not torn to bits. It was just delicious. It did take almost 45 minutes to get our food served, but I know how long it takes to boil a fresh pot of water and cook pasta, so it didn't surprise me too much. Elote is the budget option of the two, but neither is priced prohibitively. We love these two restaurants, and anyone in the area should be sure to try them out. They are owned by a Celiac, which I find comforting for my own personal safety concern.
Very Knowledgeable about Gluten-free as owner is celiac herself. They have a separate gluten-free menu with lots of choices including desserts. Great size portions and very good food! Great service, Highly recommend!
The entire wait staff did at least one thing for our table. It got exhausting saying thank you that much. Glasses were never empty and the food portions were huge. Food selection was great with even gluten free desert options. The only negative thing I could say is the interior was a little bare and the decorations that were there seemed like something you'd find in Wal-Mart.
This was one of the first restaurants I've been to since moving to Texas, and it did not disappoint. The owner is GF and the staff is very knowledgeable. Food and service was very good. So refreshing to know that I can go to a good restaurant and not get sick due to gluten contamination.
