Ooviña used to be Market Cafe but owners wanted to take restaurant to a new level turning it into a wine gallery and tapas and making entire menu gluten free. The concept behind the tapas is to be able to share food with your table mates. Knowing that many customers would have gluten issues they decided in order for us all to share, the food must be gluten free to begin with so no one would have to miss out on certain dishes or have to worry which dish was safe for them. They also can accommodate other food issues as well because everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Check out the website for further info: oovinanyc.com. The food is amazing. The chef Giovanni has gone back to his Guatemalan roots bringing a Latin American flare to each dish. I especially love the tacos either with steak or crisped pork loin. The Arroz Con Chorizo is packed full of flavor. It is one of my favorites. My husband loves the seafood dishes as well. I am not into seafood but I will take his word for it. At first I wasn't sure about the sharing part but once we got it it was really fun to be able to taste so many different flavors at one meal. Each person orders what they would like then you all share (unless you are stingy and want yours all to yourself lol). But the best part, we aren't left out of the experience due to our gluten, dairy, soy or egg issues. It's nice to be able to safely dine and have so many choices
