While the (overpriced) packaged US goods that are labeled gluten free are good, the so called “gluten free” home made/bakery items are not. They claim to have gluten free pastries, including empanadas and cookies, as well as gluten free chicken salads. However, my brother and I (both celiacs) tried their food and had violent reactions. Whenever we eat gluten we have violent reactions, cross contamination does not bother us as much…we usually just feel queasy and upset from cores contact. We ended up going to the emergency doctor in Nosara as we got such violent vomiting from eating the “gluten free” baked foods. The doctor said they must have been lying about it being gluten free because the both of us we wouldn’t have reacted as badly if it was just cross contaminated.
