This was my first time returning to Origami since the pandemic and my Celiac diagnosis. Oh boy… everyone is new, service was anywhere from slow and apathetic to decent, depending on who bothered to visit our table. Took 20 minutes after being seated before we got water.
I spoke with the sushi chef while we waited and the rice is gluten free and he seemed to understand what my needs are. There was certainly a breakdown between what the waiter communicated to the sushi chef, because one of my rolls came back with imitation crab and the standard dollop of wasabi.” The edamame is gluten free :) Miso soup is not :(
The sushi menu doesn’t give much information on the sauces included in the rolls, so do ask about that.
It’s possible to have a gluten free meal here but you need to be patient and communicate very clearly what you need.
