It treats Celiac great. They supply separate utensils and plates in the color Red. Which was awesome more places need to do this. Even had gluten free soap in washroom.
You had your own gluten free menu section. With lots of options. The pizza was really good.
Service was really good and they treated it was great caution. Would highly recommend it.
This was the most amazing experience at a restaurant we have ever had as a celiac family! Special measures to ensure no cross contamination- separate GF menu and full separate GF kitchen! The food was amazing!! Highly recommend!
The food was fantastic and all allergies are taken seriously.
My daughter was amazed that there were 2 whole pages of options, including pasta, pizza and desserts, and that she received her own GF roll, warmed, and that it was delicious. The restaurant has a separate GF kitchen, makes sure they give a red napkin to the GF person to ensure no mistakes are made, have different colour dishes, and even advised her that she could not use the ice that they left on the table, as it came from the regular kitchen, and if she wanted ice, they would bring for her from the GF kitchen. Amazing evening for all, knowing all the precautions they had in place
So good! They’re incredibly careful when it comes to allergens of all kinds. The list of options is a separate section in the regular menu, and when you tell them you have an allergy they bring out separately washed red plates, utensils, even different glasses so you know everything is safe! The pastas are delicious, and we loved the arenccini and dijonaise mussels! BYOB
I have mixed feelings about this place. Safety? 10/10. Taste? 4/10.
I was immediately super impressed by their allergen protocols and got really excited, because I've only ever been to one other place that was quite this on the ball. The server came up and saw my menu was open to the gluten free section and asked if I was gluten free. When I said "yes, I'm celiac", she immediately took the glasses and cutlery away and swapped it out for their allergen safe ones. As others have said, they have an extensive gluten free menu that is clearly marked with all variety of allergens (even beef and mustard). All gluten free food is served on red plates to distinguish it. I am highly confident in their ability to serve people safely here.
Now... I wish I could rave just as much about the food as I can their safety protocols, but the food itself was... mediocre at best. The beignets were phenomenal, so I can definitely recommend those! The pasta was also cooked to perfection, but that's where the praise ends. I got the Da Vinci pasta which was a cream sauce with arugula, tomatoes, and shallots... except... none of it was cooked. It was just a cream sauce with just a couple chunks of raw veggie thrown in, which was just... odd to me and not what I expect from a fancy pasta sauce at a restaurant? And for $30 a plate, it just felt... lazy, honestly. The "shallots" weren't shallots either, but green onions. It was super underseasoned (which I understand that if you're going to err one way or the other on the salt, it's better to underdo it and let people add more themselves... but it tasted like they didn't season it at all, so it just tasted bland). I've made similar pasta dishes at home for an sixteenth of the price. Not worth it in my honest opinion.
I also ordered the Quebecoise pizza and had one slice the night of and took the rest to go. However, the pizza I ordered was not what I received. I ended up getting the Californienne by mistake. It's right below the Quebecoise on the menu, so I think the server saw me point at the Quebecoise and assumed I was pointing at the Californienne... and just completely skipped over the actual words I was saying. I didn't realize until the next day that there was no pepperoni... or mushrooms... and what I thought was red bell pepper was actually sundried tomatoes. I was already 2 slices in and back home in Ontario at that point, so it's not like I could do anything about it. The Californienne was decent enough, but I was disappointed nonetheless, because it wasn't what I ordered.
The bigger issue is that, while mix-ups happen, with celiac and allergies that's not really acceptable. If it weren't for the fact that their allergy protocols were so good aside from that mishap (it was served on a red plate before I took it to-go) and the fact that it tasted gluten free, I would've been absolutely *panicking*.
...the dough tasted like cardboard... there was very little doubt it was gluten free, both fortunately and unfortunately.
Anyways, if you're traveling in the area and need a safe place to eat in a pinch (or you have a hankering for beignets), I'm pretty confident you can trust this place, but if you're looking for a nice dinner out, save yourself the $50+ and just get yourself a Sabatasso's frozen pizza and add your own toppings or buy/make a basic gf cream sauce and some gf Barilla pasta. The quality will be the same and your wallet will thank you for it.
Great experience. Special attention for celiacs
Great food and service. They definitely understand celiac disease preparation requirements. Heading back the next time I am in town.
J’étais très impressionnée, plusieurs choix de plats, les serveurs très aimables et renseignés, elle a changé ma coutellerie et elle m’a emmenée un nouveau verre pour l’eau. Je me suis sentie tellement relaxe. Et pour terminer le tout, le savon à la salle de bain est sans gluten. Définitivement je vais retourner.
This is by far the safest place I’ve ever eaten and the food was delicious! Lots of choices plus it’s BYOB. All GF items are identified in red including the utensils, napkins, and water pitcher. Even the glasses are a different shape. They have a separate kitchen and cleaning area.
Had a wonderful experience. They are extremely aware of cross contamination. They have a separate kitchen for food allergies, separate dishes, glassware and more. The menu is very good. I hade the penne bolognese with gluten free bread while I waited. The waitress was very very nice and every staff member we spoke to was very nice and in a good mood. We had a great evening!
Amazing amazing amazing! The food is amazing, the staff are amazing, and the atmosphere is amazing! A lot of the regular menu is on the gluten free menu, but when the GF menu is cooked is a separate space. Even the water is brought out in a red pitcher that is not washed with the other dishes! Many other allergies are also accommodated clearly on the menu.
At the start we received separate cutlery sets with a red band, then all the gfree foods were served in/on red dishes. Our non gfree friends were given their dinners on white dishes. We found out they have a separate kitchen. BYOB - GFree Beer was available in the shop next door.
We enjoyed the garlic bread and pasta dishes. All brought to the table piping hot, and tasted delicious. Service was always prompt and courteous.
Separate Gluten Free & Allergen Free menu section was well laid out and easy to understand.
Everything was delicious and they make fresh GF bread! There is a dedicated section for gluten free options. They also give you red coloured napkins and dish ware to ensure staff know you have allergies.
Amazing GF menu and precautions. Separate silverware, plates, and menu with delicious pasta, garlic bread, seafood - all with a GF option!
Very nice restaurant! We both ordered GF pasta. Hubby had penne Alfredo with sausage. I had penne with Da Vinci sauce and sausage. They brought us GF bread before our dinner and we also had Cesar salad with GF croutons. Everything was delicious. They take a lot of precautions to prevent cross contamination. One thing to note, they do not serve any alcohol. It's a BYOB restaurant.
8 years of dining as a celiac, and I’ve never been so impressed as with Ottavio’s safety protocols and knowledge. The gluten free menu is large and the food delicious. GF Options include mussels, pizza, pasta, salad, great bread, and even beignets. I will definitely return and will recommend without hesitation.
Best gluten free restaurant I’ve ever been. They have a dedicated kitchen and they sterilize the cutlery and glasses of the person with a gluten allergy. The desserts are amazing and the pizza too.
Unbelievable how conscientious they are. Everything for celiacs (water pitcher, napkins, cups, etc.) comes in the colour red so there is no risk of cross contamination. The wait staff take allergies and dietary needs very seriously. The food was delicious and there was a wide selection.
Had a completely separate kitchen for gluten free. They use separate plate and water cup colors (red) to denote what is for someone who is gluten free. Everything down to the water was separated. Gluten free bread before the meal was great and so was the main meal (pasta) and desserts (beignets)!
Staff was very knowledgeable about the coeliaque disease. All the ustensile and the dishes were carefully marked as gluten free. The gluten free bread was awesome. I will definitely go back
Delicious pizza and fresh-baked Gf bread, plus many other GF options (mussels, pasta, salad, poutine). Staff could not have been nicer, first time I’ve seen GF options on kids’ menu and specialty cleaned utensils/plates.
