Thunder from down under, baked potato, ribs. We tested all of these with our Nima and all a success. Knowledgable staff, good food and visited a few times during our stay.
Almost always a safe choice while traveling. However, like another reviewer, I also have trouble with their salads. For that reason, I always order the same dish. Pricey, but a great, consistently safe meal on the road or for special occasions. Five stars for the Outback near Pigeon Forge, TN, who also had delicious gf rolls!
Very good service and knowledgeable server. Nice GF menu. Got chicken and a baked potato and everything was fine.
Service? A little awkward but overall good service. The food? Well... It was good while I ate it. I got the shrimp Caesar salad and specifically asked for no croutons and for it to be prepared gluten free. The waiter said "gluten free? Yeah." and seemed like he understood. I have been to other Outbacks and ordered this same item and had no problems, but honestly, I'm lucky I made it back to our hotel. Within about a hour of leaving Outback, I was sick. The last meal/food I ate was 6 hours prior to arriving at Outback so I'm certain that Outback was the culprit. Pretty sad as they do have a dedicated gf menu and apparently are trained on gluten-free awareness. I am honestly questioning how well all locations are trained or if some staff members are even trained enough to know the words "gluten free." My poor review is from the fact that I got sick . I understand cross-contamination (and have had no problems at other restaurants... Ones that don't even have a dedicated gluten-free menu), but I expect more from Outback's supposedly GIG-trained staff.
Staff seemed aware and careful when bringing gluten free menu items to the table. My son had no reactions following the meal. Would be nice if they could offer a gluten free fryer. Menu is pricey for a chain, but a good option to add to our local list.
It was a great place!I had a chicken and everyone else had ribeyes.Our waiter knew the answer to all of our celiac questions.My daughter had the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under and I split a cheesecake with her friend.Aussie Rules!They really understood.
Amazing experience. I am very very sensitive to gluten. The manager came out to assure me that they take allergies very seriously, told me the chefs will change their gloves. He Showed me their gluten free menu and explained the ingredients in the amazing chocolate dessert. They even paid for the dessert for us. This will be my new go to place!!
We have visited this location on a monthly basis for a couple of years, and they have a gf menu and offer a few gf items off the regular menu if you ask about them. I have always enjoyed courteous and usually prompt service here! And the food has always been tasty and safe.
I ate at Outback for my dad’s birthday tonight, and I was at least willing to try it after seeing a few positive reviews here in the Fort. After all, beggars can’t be choosers. I will say, though, my waitress was very knowledgeable about cc and she was able to give me a full run down on cooking processes. I had the chicken and mixed veggies, with an added shrimp skewer. Overall, the dish was pretty plain. But it was also safe! And I Nima tested it, with a happy result. The waitress also brought me a side of bbq sauce and butter, both gf. Add that with some salt and pepper, and we were in business! I don’t love eating out, but there were a decent number of options and in the end— it was safe. That’s a 100% win in my book!
The gluten free menu was easy to order from however had no prices listed on it. I also feel like there could be more to cater to kids who need to be gluten free including a dedicated fryer for fries. Other than that the 3 celiacs in our family including myself did not get sick, and the waitress made every effort to ensure that we had a good experience. She even suggested cooking our food on foil to keep us safe. 5 stars for her.
After checking with the chef, the waitress informed me that the only option for me was a steak-if I had veggies, they would need to be dry as ALL their butter has gluten. Same with their baked potatoes. No butter available. The salads are all prepared with croutons, so there would be no guarantee there wouldn’t be croutons or crouton-crumbs in every salad.
Be super careful with any Outback. A lot of celiacs seem to also have msg sensitivities and Outback absolutely loads their food down with it. I stopped eating there because there hasn’t been a time that I can recall not getting extremely sick for days.
Our waiter Caleb was amazing. He was super helpful. Very attentive and careful not to pass gluten containing food/plates over mine. I had the sirloin w/ grilled shrimp. Loaded mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Chocolate thunder from down under for dessert. I had no issues. We were very pleased with the trip and the food was fantastic.
I have gone to Outback for several years now and have never had an issue with cross contamination. My husbands eats gluten and we may order the same thing off the menu and I have never had any issues!!! Always accomodaing to my eating GF and a great experience!!
WOW!!! They are totally about avoiding cross contamination. Our server was barely to the table and when she saw my menu .... she pulled back on putting the complimentary bread on the table. The two food runners that brought out plates out .... one for everyone else and my gf plate carried out by itself by a separate person to avoid cc!!! I can’t wait to go back. Wish I could give them 10 stars.
Server did not pay attention to the version of the dish that I ordered off the gluten free menu, and gave me the regular version of the dish, so I had to send it back. She also made a mistake on our bill, and the building was being remodeled. This review reflects just this location not the chain. My food was delicious when it came. The gluten free menu was very informative and had enough variety, but it did not list all ingredients like lemon butter on the tilapia.
