Outback now has a GF menu, which we love. You mainly have to stick with the protein choices, but there are extensive options. The staff doesn't seem to really understand Celiac, which has happened the last 2 times, which always makes us a bit nervous, but my kids love it here...if only the Bloomin' Onion was available as GF!
Great food & trained staff. I've been asked many times if it was ok to bring bread to the table (for my non gf friends). Oh ... And they have dessert!
One of my regular GF hangouts. They always have taken great care of me here. Nice GF menu lots of choices and dessert!
I don't eat out that often due to celiac and multiple, severe food intolerances, but this is one place that I have found that I can go and eat safely. They take food allergies very seriously. I have eaten there many times over the years since my diagnosis, and I have never been sick or cross-contaminated. And FYI - THEY NO LONGER HAVE A GF FRYER which the Outback chain forced them to remove; personally that didn't make a difference to me since I'm focusing on maximizing my nutrition and fried food tend to disagree with me, even with healthy oils.
Had their chopped steak burger with mash and veg for lunch. Waitress was really helpful with the gluten free options. Their sauce has wheat in it so I avoided that, but the meal was still excellent. She did warn me that they do not have a dedicated work space in the kitchen.
What im going to say here seems to be inline with the other reviews here. Ive ate here maybe 10 times because i live around here. I was excited to find out they were gf. At one point outback and its affiliates were really highly rated for gf even. Im talking 3 or 4 years ago which is likely why the reviews in that time period are good. I ate there then and also would have rated them highly, but there standards on this have went way down since then across the chain. This location a couple years ago or so also came under a new manager even. I was up all night sick because of this place last night and yes ordered from the gf menu, and they knew i was celiac as usual, but this was pretty bad. Ive had a few cc issues the last few times but this one was the worst. I gave it chances because it wasnt always this way and i tend to get much stricter with ordering in those cases, like no sauces or tomatues with the grilled shrimp, no bacon on the loaded baked potatoe. I eliminate the suspects and its almost like reading from their own gf menu as its mostly things already stated there which the weightstaff and cook don't seem to ever look at on their own. Im not sure what changed as really the whole chain was great at one point, but im a bit more careful now with this one than i used to be. This location though...i really cant go back this time.
We have visited this location on a monthly basis for a couple of years, and they have a gf menu and offer a few gf items off the regular menu if you ask about them. I have always enjoyed courteous and usually prompt service here! And the food has always been tasty and safe.
I have been to the one in Huntsville several times and had a wonderful experience! However; I went to the Auburn location for a friend’s birthday and made sure the server and manager knew I had Celiac Disease. I explained that cross contamination will make me sick. However, my meal (I ordered the pork steak, baked potato, and salad) was brought out, and my server had plated my food with mac & cheese as the side, touching my pork. I explained to the server that I could not eat this food without getting sick because the pork had now been cross-contaminated and asked her to remake it. She took it back to the kitchen, but came back almost immediately with the pork re-plated and baked potato on the plate. I re-iterated to her that I couldn’t eat something that had been cross-contaminated, but the server insisted it was a different piece of pork meat. Not wanting to make any more of a scene on my friend’s birthday, I ate it, and got very sick from the meal. I wish all of the servers took Celiac Disease seriously.
Staff was attentive to ensuring food was prepared separately. Kitchen manager came to our table, without being asked, to explain how the food would be prepared to ensure no cross-contamination. Really appreciated the extra care for our family of celiacs.
I have eaten at Outback in Gilbert three times in the last month. I have ordered a Cobb salad each time. Unexplained that I had celiac disease. They said they would be careful and every time I have been sick. I keep going back because they say they are careful but unfortunately I have not found that yet. I will continue and keep trying because I love Outback, but beware.
Outback had a separate gluten free menu that included many choices. I was impressed they even had a dessert! I had a steak, salad (no croutons) and baked potato. I’m not one to make a big fuss about my gluten allergy, but our server immediately noticed my gluten free menu and said she would make sure my food was made properly. Our server was very knowledgeable and I didn’t get sick at all after dinner- which is very very rare for a restaurant meal! We will be back.
Great gluten free menu... lots of options. Steak of course is great and love the Alice Springs Chicken. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Great take out option with curb side pick up. Have been there several times both eating in and taking out without any problems.
I told the waitress my son had celiac and we ordered from the GF menu, but all she did was write it down and said she would make a note. She was not interested in my questions about how the food was prepared. I think it may depend on the server, but this place is too risky. Partly our fault-we are learning to call ahead to restaurants during non-peak hours and ask to speak to the chef.
The staff was not super knowledgable, but you just have to emphasize to them what you need depending on your level of sensitivity. I got the grass-fed burger, but they do NOT have a gluten free bun. I ordered it without the bun. They do have a gluten free lava cake though, which was amazing.
My rating is for the accuracy of their gf menu only. WARNING:::::: The prime rib on their gluten free menu *does* have small amounts of gluten in the seasoning. I can verify this because I became very sick. However, I am a celiac's sufferer so the typical gf sensitive person might not have any reaction at all.
Gluten free menu. Server was very knowledgeable about GF. Once I explained that I had Celiac Disease they were very careful in the kitchen to not cross contaminated food. Manager brought food out separate from the rest of the orders. Had no issues after eating! Was very impressed with the whole dining experience.
I trust Outback for a safe delicious gf meal. I always get the same thing. The grilled salmon with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes. Oh, their Alice Springs chicken is also gf and delicious. The Chocolate Thunder from down under is also gf and out of this world!
They had 1 GF menu for the whole restaurant. Nothing special identifying the meal was gluten free, but no adverse reactions to my meal afterwards. Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitive. I react pretty quickly so can’t guarantee cross-contamination level is safe for Celiacs. Your mileage my vary.
