Went here with hubby for a date night. Figured Id take a chance after seeing they had a gf menu. I got a sirloin, broccoli and mashed potatoes; a red blend; and hubby and I split the “thunder from down under” chocolate brownie. The steak was ok (medium, not the medium rare asked for; somehow also slightly dry-ish), the sides good but nothing fancy. The red blend was very nice (Caymus!). And the chocolate dessert was absolute amazing - if you love chocolate, I highly recommend. Service was good although we waited a bit even with a reservation. The server seemed knowledgeable about gf, and the restaurant had a paper gf menu which was nice. I had no ill effects, other than being very full.
I saw on their website that they had a gluten free menu. I also a few questions about other ingredients in their menu. I used their website contact us and got a response a few hours later answering my questions thoroughly. As well as the reminder they work hard to train staff so if we had any issues with getting gluten free items to respond back and let them know.
At the restaurant they did have a separate paper gluten free menu. When myself and my mother ordered (she's celiacs and I'm sensitive\intolerant) she verified with each of us that we wanted our food cooked in separate pans and for the cooks to change gloves before touching our food.
Everything came or good and how we requested neither of us had a reaction afterwards.
I’m celiac and told the wait staff and was clear about the severity of the disease. I ordered the ribeye with salad and mashed potatoes (all of the special gluten free menu). Went home sick and the next day tested our leftovers with a nima tester. Came back positive for gluten. Can’t recommend this place to anyone.
I have celiac disease. Eat here often and over the years have only gotten sick here once.
They have a large GF menu that is supported by the GIG. Fantastic Service! The waitress was incredibly knowledgable about the GF items and was very good with notifying the kitchen about the gluten intolerance. I had a Pina Colada, Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie appetizer, Filet and Lobster Tails with a dressed baked potato and house salad (no croutons, honey mustard dressing), and the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. No gluten effects whatsoever. Very pleased with the selection and the speedy and knowledgable service.
Two of our party of 12 are diagnosed celiacs and one is suspected celiac. One of us got glutenned. The waiter did not correctly put in our allergy order and salads came out with croutons. We sent offending salads back and they allegedly remade them. The person bringing the food was different than the waiter, had no idea about the three allergy orders, and did not announce the stats of the food being brought. This restaurant needs a big overhaul of training. There was unsafe food being placed down at the seating of the celiacs place.
Update Nov 2024
We have eaten here several times since my first review, and again yesterday.
All still good at this location. I had the Alice Spring Chicken from the GF menu. The manager checked on us twice. No reaction a a very enjoyable meal.
Aug 2022
Happily, no reaction to a nice streak with fully loaded baked spud and asparagus off the GF menu. We all shared a chocolate Thunder as well. Our server was fully aware of the need for caution.
Next time we are in Jonesboro we will eat here again.
I love Outback. Most of the time I go, I get grilled chicken on the Barbie, with a Caesar salad minus croutons, and a sweet potato. Delicious, satisfying and I don’t feel like I ate horribly. This past time my mother got the fried blooming shrimp which I believe is a seasonal thing and she very much enjoyed it. I had no problems what so ever.
