I dont give 5 stars..... ever...... but I have been here numerous times. I am GF and my girlfriend is both picky and GF + other food allergies. We are not treated as second class and always feel envited. The chef will come out to talk to you and find out what you can and can't have and then CREATE a dish that fits your tastes and needs. I have yet to complain but I ask for something they do their best to accomidate. The staff is great, the owners are always there to make sure you are comfortable. This is one of those rare finds that you have to check out.

Celiac

Don't go here. I have Celiac, and fried items marked GF on their menu are fried in a fryer that also cooks gluten-containing foods. After repeating several times that I had Celiac and I can’t eat anything from the fryer, I ordered the wings because I was reassured that they would be baked instead of fried. After a few bites, I realized that the wings I was eating were very crispy and started to think that they may be fried. After bringing this to the attention of the waitress, she consulted with the chef, who insisted that my food was not fried. However, the chef also insisted that I not continue to eat the wings I had been served, and said he would instead prepare me a new order of wings. When they brought out the new order, they looked completely different than the wings I had originally received, which confirms that the original wings had been fried. The manager/owner came over to talk to me, became extremely defensive about the oversight, and told me that I was being disrespectful to her by pointing out their mistake. I have ever felt so offended in my life. I will never go back here and I will tell every person I know to avoid this restaurant.

Symptomatic Celiac

Don't understand all the positive reviews. The menu has items marked GF with a note stating it can be prepared GF. I let the server know I would like mine GF and he says, no problem, we'll leave the potatoes off, that's the only starch in the plate... Huh?? I had to inform him on what gluten was. It only went downhill from there.

Great spot with several options. The menu changes a bit seasonally so make sure to ask what's safe each visit. Some of the breaded items are only available GF.

High awareness of GF needs and accommodating. The best shrimp and grits I've had outside of Charleston. Great hospitality. Relaxing informal atmosphere.

Went here for a birthday dinner for my sister in-law in January. We were all excited to try it for the first time. I called ahead and inquired about GF food accommodations I was told no problem. Once we were there I spoke to the one and only server who told me they don't really do GF. I asked to speak to the chef (read another review that he is accommodating). The server told me he is not able to come out due to being busy. I ordered the only thing I felt safe about eating; the seafood boil. I have wanted to go back but am afraid I will be told the same thing.
