I'm not usually one to comment but this is one for my Coeliac/Gluten Free fam out there.
I was so excited to try some seaside UK fish and chips and this place comes highly recommended for GF. The service was fantastic but the food was terrible.
The oil used was definitely old and dirty. The chips were soggy, heavily soiled in dark gross oil. The fish and the batter really was very nice, I'll give them that. Given the exchange rate was so bad. It cost me about $30AUD so I wanted to just persevere and eat.. But I gave up when I found a massive black hair in amongst the chips. Honestly. I'm used to terrible gluten Free food, but this was next level hence, I'm leaving a review. See the pic, that dribble of oil on the side of the plate will tell all.

Discovered Papa's also did gluten free, so made our way there (I was the only coeliac out of the party of 6). They took the GF order first & confirmed all sauces, etc were gluten free. Felt like the staff were very knowledgeable. When the fish & chips arrived, it was very tasty, albeit, greasy, which dud cause me issues later.

Good choice of gluten free on the menu. Was offered to go see the kitchen and how they have a separate part for gluten free cooking. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. I had the battered cod and chips with gravy. It was very nice.

Great place for gluten free fish and chips. An absolute joy to be able to eat without worrying. All the staff were very knowledgeable, fish and chips were a great price, good portion sizes and the sides we had, mushy peas and curry sauce, were lovely, and also gluten free. Drinks a good price too, with a great choice. Lovely restaurant, lovely staff, would recommend.

Nice place. Novel menus made to look like news papers. They don't have a dedicated GF menu but items on the menu are marked with gf or v or both. Bit of a wait for our food 25 min from ordering. But when they brought it over. Jesus christ we got the large cod and chips. The fish was 17 inches long. Over hang the plate. See photo. I couldn't manage it all too much. The food was nice and would highly recommend but I wouldn't buy the large cod and chips again ide stick with regular.

I’m visiting from US Extremely sensitive, no issues Had cod fish and chips - was made in heaven Have dedicated fryer for GF Yes, had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but there was a firework competition that evening, even so would not hesitate going back - the food was that good

Good size portions, good choice for us celiacs, helpful and pleasant staff, there's a couple of tables outside the takeaway part you can sit and eat if available. They use a separate fryer when you ask for gluten free.. very tasty and had no issues.

Thoroughly enjoyed gluten free fish and chips, the vinegar and sauces are all gluten free by default which is a good touch, a bit pricey though I thought. Nearly £11 for a standard size haddock and chips.
