Papi’s Grill was great! We loved their tacos. We each got a Alambre ( chicken) and a Rajas con Chorizo taco. They were excellent! We split an order of the Chorizo Chipotle fries. They were amazing! They don’t have a gluten-free menu, but the only thing they have with gluten are the hamburger buns. I am a sensitive celiac, and I didn’t have any reaction. It only took 10-15 minutes for our food to be ready.
Only burger buns have gluten. Limited cross-contamination when ordering tacos.
We ordered 6 different tacos. They were to die for! We specially enjoyed the chorizo and the vegetables, but they were all extremely fresh and tasty. We also had the ceviche which was homemade and also very fresh. We loved Papi's so much we ate there twice! I didn't see any specific procedure in place, but we had no reaction and everybody before and after us was ordering tacos, not burgers. There are several burger joints on the same street, so not ordered ofter here.
This is not always somebody able to answer the phone. It is best to drive there to place a take-out order as they cook fast.
Did lots of research before a getaway to the Pismo/Avila Beach area. Stopped at Papi’s for lunch upon arrival and it was great. Friendly, knowledgeable staff at the counter, freshly made gf chips, and awesome tacos (my favorite was the veggie and chorizo). No symptoms afterward. Thinking of stopping again on our way out of town!
It’s so hard to find gluten free food in a coastal town. My husband and I walked all around trying to find a “non-salad” item.
We accidentally ran into Papi’s. Sooo good and so many choices!
Thank you Papi’s! Don’t expect fancy, like another review stated, step up from a food truck. Could have a little more ambiance.
We will be back!
Delicious tacos with a twist! This wonderful little gem was surprisingly gluten-free-friendly (most items naturally gfree) and the owner/chef was happy to talk and very knowledgable. Homemade corn (maseca?) tortillas graced each taco, and the fillings and menu choices are unique and SO good! We tried the butter beef taco and carnitas tacos, as well as chipotle fries. They offer potato, shrimp, halibut, chicken tacos etc. I didn't ask about every menu item or cross contamination with the burger buns, but the fryer is only used for French fries and tortilla chips. The chef said to not eat the salad dressing as it contained soy sauce. My husband (not celiac) ate a burger and said it was delicious as well (served on a regular brioche bun). Very unique flavors!
