First, I should preference this review by saying that I am not celiac. However, I have an allergy to wheat so I like to stick to gluten-free options. I was very impressed by this establishment in the downtown area. As the other patrons described, they have specific areas for gluten-free cooking, etc. I asked to look at the potato chips as I'm allergic to onions and garlic and they allowed for me to. They did ask me if this was a preference or an allergy so make sure you tell them you have an allergy.

I feel the need to comment on the cross contamination issue. My son is a super sensitive celiac (as in he'll be throwing up within hours). He has never gotten sick here. We've always had a good experience. They keep separate jars of peanut butter and jelly for the gluten free and they use packaged chips for GF instead of the ones that they use for everyone else. There is a separate dedicated prep area for GF and they change gloves before preparing the food. BUT, you have to be absolutely clear that this is medical not a preference (they've always asked me) because from what I understand they don't follow the same procedure if it's just a preference (not sure why???). I always clean the table and make him wash his hands before eating because of the risk from other customers. I only trust the downtown location. The one in the mall had NO CLUE when I asked about gluten free. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the last time we were there I was a little less comfortable that the proper procedures were followed. My son didn't get sick, so it was fine, but it may just depend on who is working when you go in, so watch carefully.

Great service and so many varieties to try. She even makes GF cookies. Try the Elvis. It is my favorite!! She grills sandwiches of foil to prevent cross contamination.

PB and Jellies Xpresso Yourself is a great family oriented restaurant. It has tons of homemade in store peanut butter and jellies that you can sample and then create your own custom sandwich. You can get a normal pb and j with white chocolate and heart berry jelly or go for the unusual by getting the young elvis which has crunchy peanuts, honey, bananas, your choice of p.b. and bacon. Awesome! Not feeling the peanut butter? They have deli sandwiches with Boars Head meat so all natural and delicious. They have New York specific food also like knish and Sabrette hot dogs. You can get all sandwiches gluten free and gluten free hot dog buns. Plus they just added an espresso section and fresh baked in house gluten free cookies and cake truffles! I just wanted to say there is a place in town you can get awesome gluten free sandwiches!!
