The best gluten free cupcakes in town! I am a very sensitive celiac and have had zero issues with pearls. They are very careful about cross contamination and understand celiac. They even have a separate case for gluten free items to avoid any confusion or cross contamination!

We found their gf cupcakes to be dry, almost coffee cake texture. The chocolate cupcake was better than the vanilla based but we’ve had better cupcakes from other bakeries. The cupcakes are also co-mingling with gluten cupcakes, sitting on s middle shelf in the middle of other baked goods with no cover. We also tried a cake pop and the center was almost like eating cookie dough with a thick layer of white chocolate/candy bark on the outside. We don’t eat cake pops normally so maybe this is how they all are?? Overall we weren’t impressed but my boyfriend, who is celiac, didn’t get sick from any of the food.

FOOD JEWEL OF OUR TRIP is the quote from my husband who is not GF or celiac and still ate a bunch of GF items. I typically do not eat sweets because I find GF sweets to be so disappointing, but these cupcakes were AMAZING. We had ham and sweet potato biscuits, all kinds of cupcakes, and cookies. I am very gluten sensitive and did not have a reaction at all to all the sweets I crammed in my mouth from them. I bought extra the day we left Virginia to try to freeze them at home. Hopefully that works. I'm going to post photos because there's no way I can really describe the awesomeness that is the GF Drumstick Cupcake. Also, people who were coming in and buying GF told me they were the best GF cupcakes in town and were raving about them.

PRO TIP: The GF cupcakes usually come out around 10:30 or so because they are baked fresh everyday. At least one flavor is gone by 3 each day. The staff is extremely friendly and you can call for Cupcake status in the AM. They are happy to help.

GF Drumstick at top (ganache filling) and GF Mint Chocolate at bottom.
Lemon Icing with Yellow cake and blueberry filling, Vanilla icing with chocolate cake, peanut butter icing with chocolate cake.
It's like an everything cookie. Peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips, M&Ms. The texture is incredible.
Ham and Sweet Potato Biscuit.
GF Drumstick Cupcake. My husband, who is not GF, ate one of these and says it may be one of the best things he's ever eaten.

Best gf cupcake I've ever had. Got the lemon flavor. Great customer service too. I can't have corn and they called the owner to make sure it was corn free. Delicious.

Stopped in for gluten free cupcakes while on vacation. There were two varieties available, both chocolate based. They were very good and I felt fine from both. (I am not celiac but am very sensitive.) They also had macaroons in several flavors. The thing that really annoyed me was not being able to get a glass of tap water. "We don't do that but you can buy a bottle of water." Seriously lacking customer service when you can't get a glass of water.

Purchased 8 GF cupcakes for a family birthday celebration. Delicious! We had a variety of frostings and it was so fun to have such options. Also, totally reasonably priced. Will definitely buy from here again. Celiac daughter had no adverse reaction.

My 2 daughters who have celiac ate brownies that the male server said were gluten free on Monday, August 3rd in the Charlottesville, VA store. They threw-up every 10 to 20 minutes for 2-3 hours. Celiac buyer beware.

This is what gluten free baking should taste like - simply delicious! I had the red velvet cupcake and the sweet potato ham biscuit. The red velvet was moist and delicious and had a generous amount of frosting - enough for very bite. The sweet potato biscuit was slight sweet and soft, not crumbly, but the ham was just a little too salty. Run, don't walk, to Pearl's!
